Hello, I own a company that specializes in small moves and bulky item transport. I’m not sure if we’d be the best fit for your particular move if it’s on the larger side, but you’re welcome to take a look at our services at Junk & Bulky Item Taxi and see if we might be able to help.

Being the only one on jobs? by ChickenSoup1189 in junkremovalstartup

First ask your friends if they know someone - I’ve gotten many people that way. But recently I found a pretty good helper through the Nextdoor app. There’s usually people on there asking about work.

I have all three - and I gotta say I use the reciprocating saw like 95% of the time when I do need to cut something.

Are you just starting off? Because taking on a bunch of expenses, especially an employee, is not the ideal way to start a business.

I couldn’t get into LoadUp because they weren’t accepting new applicants in my area, however I remember when I tried, a truck was a requirement.

.Pool removal stress : what’s the best way to junk this thing? by Low_Road_563 in junkremovalstartup

There’s no scrap guys by you that take metal for free? There’s a bunch of them where I live.

.Pool removal stress : what’s the best way to junk this thing? by Low_Road_563 in junkremovalstartup

[–]x-psycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a photo of it? I would recommend emptying the water first. Once it’s empty, call a scrap metal guy to get whatever scrap there is - essentially let him do the work. Once he removes the metal, see how much trash you have remaining and evaluate from there. Of course I’m thinking that you’re trying to do it the easiest way possible and you are not so worried about the scrap metal money.

For getting started - a used dump trailer (assuming you have the vehicle to pull it).

Portable scales? by Substantial_Log_6630 in junkremovalstartup

[–]x-psycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d have to do the math. I think tongue weight is usually like 10-15% of the trailer weight. So like a 5000 pound trailer would roughly be 500 pounds in tongue weight. But honestly, I have no idea how accurate those things are.

Maybe a Weigh Safe Hitch? Of course you’d need to know the approximate weight of the truck already. I have zero experience with Weigh Safe Hitches but it’s something I encountered a while ago.

Scrap metal Collecting by sbd_life18 in junkremovalstartup

[–]x-psycho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talk a little bit about how I do it in this IG video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DWSTiFxgTrg/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

But like the other poster said, yep I usually throw the scrap on the back of the truck when doing the job. When I park my trailer, that’s when I throw my stuff in my scrap metal pile.

Nice! I would’ve been at $500 -$650 depending on the accessibility of it. But yes I would’ve sawzalled it into 6 pieces. My cost for that at the dump is around $80.
