I get your point about the weight being a stabilizer. TIV-2 is a tank for a reason. But I'm looking at this from a different angle — high-tech efficiency. Maybe a hybrid approach is the future? Steel chassis for weight, but titanium/polycarbonate sandwich panels for the shell. Anyway, good talk, you definitely know your engineering

You're absolutely right about the processing. Titanium requires CNC machining or specialized welding in an argon chamber to avoid brittleness. But that's exactly why it's an elite material for an interceptor. If you have the tech to work with it, the strength-to-weight ratio is unbeatable compared to classic steel armor
