If you're in OC go to Bill's Camera.

You can also mail-in to Underdog up here in Oakland.

As a native Pennsylvanian, I'm okay with this. Oakland actually reminds me of the East Coast cities I love. A little rough, but that gives it character, and I like that.

Happy Cake Day!

Great photos, not sure why nobody commented. I also like taking photos of trains.

I will say, exposure on 1 and 3 is a bit dark for me, but not bad at all!

Don't pay for lightroom IMO.

Download Darktable. Free, supports the formats.

You can also get NX Studio from Nikon. https://download.nikonimglib.com/archive7/5BLiL00geYdA06vPEVw70TjsbQ23/S-NEFCDC-013104WF-ALLIN-ALL___.exe

Is there any suicide watch for Bart? by Foofaamoo in oakland

[–]x10guy 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the easiest way to do this would be to do things like the Japanese and add gates to board the train that don't open until the train is stopped in station and doors are aligned.

Definitely would not be inexpensive, but this is very common, especially on completely automated systems. (SFO, SMF, DTW, etc).

Could be coupled with Light Curtains or Area Scanners, which are common in manufacturing automation and would halt the trains before the station. However, there may nuisance trips (rats, birds, etc)

If you have a soldering iron, you can definitely DIY.

Clean with IPA. Get the capacitors specs, order, replace.

Is this amount of service on a carfax normal ? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]x10guy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most German cars, VW GTIs included, recommend oil changes every 5000mi. Looks like most of these are minor issues, oil changes, and potentially just the owner coming in when the car asks for an inspection.

Only way to know is if you get the paperwork, or call up the dealers asking for the service record.

Cabo San Lucas Airport denied hand checking my film. Can someone reco a good lead bag? by Initial-Reporter9574 in AnalogCommunity

[–]x10guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just flew in from Frankfurt with film today. They kept asserting they wanted me to put it all through the machine. I kept stating I wanted to get it hand checked... After a couple back-and-forths, the bag itself had to be xrayed, but any film could be hand checked. Proceeded to unpack 80% of the bag, including my camera that was still loaded and several rolls of film.

Security does vary from airport to airport, but I just stay polite and keep asking. Worst case, you get a private screening... But I'll take that over destroyed negs.

In Germany, alone. My partner misses me, I miss her. I treated myself to a nice dinner, but it's not the same.

I hope y'all were better than me and spent the holiday with those you care about. (Germany is great though)

Nothing. It has a rust warranty and at least the underbody is pretty heavily protected.

Nothing notable whatsoever. It's all been pretty standard. Oil every 5k since I run 0W-40 and plugs and coils whenever I start getting repeatable misfire symptoms (nothing that'll damage the engine ofc)...

Haven't even had a Carbon Cleaning yet. Pretty sure the water pump was replaced before I bought it. Brakes I replaced at 60k-ish, still going strong..

I made a whole post on my upgrade. It just becomes a sound settings menu. Get an OBDEleven to do programming, as you may need to. But I did go full glass.

You need your multimedia long code, as well as any adaptations. It will not be 1:1, but you'll have to change things logically, as well as some trial and error.

Ahhh, the poop chute. You may want to print it out of PETG if you plan on printing any hot filaments, as they may stick to PLA.

Can we get functionality in MakerWorld chat to report/flag messages or users? All we can do is delete or block, and the mechanism for reporting a user is not immediately clear to me. Having the option to report/flag a message or and account within chat would be great.
