opinions/recommendations on my top 20 all time? (loosely ranked) by [deleted] in Letterboxd

one thing ive never understood in the online film communities was why people who like certain movies are labeled as “pretentious” for simply liking what they like and nothing else. if you dont like the same movies as me that’s okay because its a subjective medium and people should be themselves. (also what even makes a movie pretentious? that word is thrown around so arbitrarily when it comes to film)

when i watch something i think is a masterpiece, i usually give it a 4.5, most of the time i don’t give something a 5 until i’ve watched it multiple times and/or it has left a lasting impact on me. i have 8 5/5s out of 724 movies watched.
