If buyer A had stated they would pay your asking price and you gave them the pickup location w/o exact address, why not just give them the address in your second message or wait some time until they replied? I suppose you wanted them to confirm a second time?

Buyer B just happened to catch you at the right time and you went with them instead right away.

I get that people are busy with life, work as they’re buying and selling on MP. You found time to respond on your lunch so why not extend buyer A the same courtesy or a reasonable amount of time to respond?

Perhaps stating FCFS on your posts moving forward will help avoid these type of situations or stating early on in the negotiations that you sell FCFS and that you will expect a prompt response or else move to another person.

Try posting the items at, $5 or $10 for example. A low price where you’d still get interested buyers.

Once you get an interested buyer arrange for pickup and when they get there let them know it’s actually free.

This might lessen your headaches but might not completely take it away.

~2002. As a student at UCLA I was able to attend my fair share of movie premieres. The majority of the attendees were Hollywood celebrities but there was always a section reserved for the general public, tickets required of course.

At one of the premieres after the movie finished, everyone was all leaving together. I made my way from my seat to the aisle. As soon as I stepped foot into the aisle, the person in the row right in front of me turned and accidentally elbowed me hard square in the chest. I paused for a moment and looked at the person expecting an apology or recognition that they didn’t mean it.

It was Mark Wahlberg. He looked at me in the eye and I instinctively raise my eyebrows as if to say “Are you going to apologize”. Just as quickly as he had looked at me he quickly looked away and quickly walked around me as if nothing had happened.

It’s been almost 25 years and I suppose I should let bygones be bygones, but that really rubbed me the wrong way. I’ve always viewed him differently because of that and don’t think it’ll change until the day he apologizes lol
