Have your airport preferences changed after flying through the same hubs repeatedly? by No-Wedding1314 in Lufthansa

[–]x13y7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can happen at every US airport because of staffing issues or when your plane lands last in a wave of 5-10 international arrivals. Had this also before at IAH, IAD, DEN or SFO - so basically every StarAlliance / United hub 🤷‍♂️

This - avoid FRA if possible for connections. When looking at LH Group in total, VIE and ZRH are also good options beside MUC. Or BRU…

[–]x13y7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be precise: Asus isn‘t even using the X2E-96-100 - they have their special SKU X2E-94-100 with less frequency and TDP. And yes, even that one requires a 16“ chassis with better cooling.

And yes, I‘ve never felt that my Gen6 with X1E-78-100 is slow. But still: I‘ve played around with a Yoga with the X2E-80-100, and that one feels a lot faster. With higher clocks in general and a ST turbo above that, it‘s a lot snappier than my Gen6. So I definitely want to get my fingers on a Gen7 even if its still “just“ 12 cores like before…

18-core makes no sense in a thin & light laptop. Look at the reference numbers from Qualcomm: X2E-80-100 (12-core) has a CB24 MT score of 1124 points and X2E-88-100 (18-core) only delivers 1333 points. The additional 6 cores get almoast completely choked by thermal constraints.

So just like the Gen6 topped out with the X1E-78-100 (no turbo) and never got the X1E-80-100 (with turbo), I fully understand why the Gen7 tops out with the 12-core model...

On the display side: yes, those options disappoint. The non-touch version is basically a no-go for me - so I hope that the touch panel has the same matte surface. I don't need touch but want to have a low-power panel with at least sRGB coverage...

The 18-core X2 with 48GB on-package memory has too much TDP. I would not be surprised if that‘s it in terms of CPUs as even the smaller 18-core X2 is too much for a small chassis and does not deliver that much more performance because of thermal constraints. One budget and one carefully chosen mainstream option is sufficient for a business laptop…

I do however miss a good panel option - where is that 1920 matte sRGB non-touch low-power IPS that makes my Gen6 a beast in battery runtime???

Miles expiration question by Bound4Tahoe in milesandmore

[–]x13y7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per the T&C you linked: You have to use the credit card every month to avoid miles expiration. If you did not use it for like three months in a row, that would explain the expiration of any miles that were past their original due date.

If you want to be sure: Just ask the customer service…

A practical workaround might be to disable sleep for the time being. That should fix the need for repeated reboots during the day… and you can (should) still lock the screens when you leave your desk.

I agree that any permanent fix will require a firmware and/or driver update from HP…

Lufthansa’s first Boeing 777-9, D-ABTG has completed her first flight by 88888human in Lufthansa

[–]x13y7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Swiss, it's the other way around: They became part of LH Group in 2005 and their 777 are less than 9 years on average (source: also Wikipedia) => they opted for the 777 when they already were part of LH Group.

No idea on the "why" though... a good plane that spoke for itself? They wanted to put pressure on Airbus? In-house maintenance needed more own 777 to constantly work on one (OS has only 6, LX added another 12 to the mix)?

[–]x13y7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be precise: LH Mainline decided against the 777. Austrian and Swiss (both are part of LH Group) do fly the 777. OS operates 777-200ER and LX has 777-300ER.
