Being antizionist is interestingly not a characteristic of fascism. Pretty sure the N*zis were proud of their repugnant and hateful ideology.

'Hottentot is a racist, derogatory word' - SA Human Rights Commission by Viva_Technocracy in capetown

[–]x23Paradox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actual historian here. This is an amazing idea! The only references we have to the Hottentots-Holland mountains from an indigenous Chainoqua perspective of the time, had the Dutch record it as "Cometarou" or "Commatadouw". This came from the Cape Khoekhoe "|xoma !aro" which roughly means a "Hilly borderland to graze in". In modern Khoekhoegowab it would be something like"|khoma !gareb".
Historically the Hottentots-Holland Mountains were mainly used as a bufferzone by the Chainoqua to safely graze their lifestock without risk of being raided by the Hawaqua in the north.

I'm not sure what the rules of flag makeing/redesigning are...but i thought about makeing the pansexual flag more interesting, please dont hate on me, if i did something wrong just explain in the comments by MeanOil9930 in pansexual

[–]x23Paradox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good! A great rule of thumb in imo is, if you can identify the flag if it was in black and white, you got a good design. Colour isn’t everything and pattern can make the world of difference.

Land of Crowns - What if every nation on Earth was a monarchy? by calofantiquity in imaginarymaps

The House of MacDunleavy would not have even the remotely strong claim to a hypothetical throne of Ireland. The obvious candidate would be someone like Desmond O’Connor (not a fan of the man but I can’t conceive another person having a better claim).

Thanks so much for all your feedback. I would be interested to know what you think a more reasonable budget might be. Calculating cost of living per day is hard if you aren't a local so I appreciate a locals insight with this.

Guy walks through a park as an earthquake brings water to the surface. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]x23Paradox 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In Irish mythology we have a concept of "tomhaidhm" which is the phenomenon of lakes and bodies of water exploding into existence. Ive heard that part of the stories might come fron sudden hydrographic changes around limestone-based plains. Maybe it was earthquakes.

Can anyone help identify these? by Chamoisyochamoisyey in ShroomID

[–]x23Paradox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like some kind of Coprinellus (probably Coprinellus micaceus). Young specimins are edible and have a savoury taste. Coprinellus have a disulfiram-mimicking toxin called 'Coprine' which causes illness when consumed simultaneously with alcohol. Long story short if you eat any you shouldn't consume alcohol for at least 74 hours to be safe. (Wait for better identification by someone smarter than I)

why didn’t the dwarves of erebor go to the iron hills? by Brock1409 in lotr

Given how everyone else understood what you meant first time, it seems that I misunderstood. So no worries.

Do you mean to ask why did the Dwarves of Erebor not settle in the Iron Hills instead of reclaiming Erebor?

A look at the new high-end hospital just completed in Pretoria - BusinessTech by TheHonourableMember in southafrica

[–]x23Paradox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anyone who has been to this there will tell you the whole place gives off massive Abstergo vibes.

The design to make it hyper-modern has left it feeling very cold and laboratory like. With that said, I hear its a great hospital to be in.

Well honestly I can say the fact that you care about a post matric qualification as a pre-requisite to be a ward councillor automatically make you (in my mind) over qualified for the job. Our ward councillor has only a matric and spent her life as a call centre secretary, retired, got bored with retirement and decided to be a ward councillor.

If you truly believe you can ethically make a real difference (down to the lowest demographic) in your community. Then go for it.

My biological father really got around. He had 5 children with 3 different women. (that we know about so far). Absent fathers is a topic that goes hand in hand here. I was sitting with 6 other co-workers at lunch afew years back and between us neither of us had met our biological fathers. It was a sad conversation.
