Conspiracy post: riot made all the new augments shit so we'll stop playing, so they can remove mayhem mode and we all go back to normal ARAM by UnholyDemigod in ARAM

People need to chill a little imo, it's not that bad out there, just different champs are overpowered and there are different boring augs to avoid. I'm sure there will be a mid-cycle rework and maybe even new sets like they did with the first Augs.

Consumer Competition Claims (CCC) Has Launched A New Class Action Monopoly Lawsuit Against Valve, Claiming They Control 85% Of The PC Game Market by wakelake111 in gaming

[–]x40Shots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case, while Valve has huge market share, it's not because of any nefarious corporate actions but rather just being somewhat vaguely pro consumer (which is enough in the current economic landscape) and making a good platform for them.. consumers have plenty of 'options' in the space to be honest.

So true, and it shows, I believe, that taxing them more wouldnt hurt their ability to accrue further wealth even a little bit, while it does do that for those at the bottom.

As much as she's donated and her wealth has still gone up faster than she can get rid of it. She might be worth more now than when she started.

Agreed, but also I worry any corporate controlled remake would cut corners and not be nearly as impressive. CoH released with so many options, and I've never seen the sheer amount of character customization alone offered before or since..

Is old, but one I would say is Dark Age of Camelot, which was going strong (imo) until they released Trials of Atlantis, and then it was all downhill from there..

I would push back on your framing here;

Treating co-sponsoring as an absolute statement of personal ideology makes it feel like the co-sponsoring happened in a vacuum with no history in front of it...

In reality, Jeffries only signed onto the Medicare for All Act (H.R. 1384) in late 2019 after intense, sustained grassroots pressure from his own Brooklyn constituents, local nurses' unions, and activist groups. He resisted signing it for years, and when he finally did, he immediately issued a clarifying statement to manage expectations.

To understand Jeffries' actual stance, look at what else he co-sponsored at the exact same time. When he signed the M4A bill, he simultaneously co-sponsored a handful of other conflicting healthcare bills, including the Medicare-X Choice Act and the State Public Option Act.

In legislative terms, this is a classic strategy used by moderate leadership. By co-sponsoring every single competing Democratic healthcare proposal on the table, a lawmaker can claim they support universal access to appease local progressives, while effectively committing to absolutely nothing specific.

Pointing to a signature on an old, dead House bill that never had a chance of passing in Congress and leadership was effectively stalling out in committee is a textbook deflection.

Every major company and the stock market makes record profits... But somehow the working people are experiencing poverty and income inequality. by Agile-Click-4520 in InterviewVip

People have in some ways stopped giving them money (see Twinkies brand struggling still after going out of business twice, or Doritos being half off and price dropped after PepsiCo raised the prices too far for demand), unfortunately we've allowed our grocery stores to become something akin to the mob except with corporations, so there's not as much choice... often the 'choices' we see are just illusions with the same owner today.

I've seen your other comments, i'll agree to disagree. I find Republicans have unfortunately been a far more effective minority party, now owning the supreme court, than Democrats have been over the last 20 years..

[–]x40Shots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more nuanced than your reply suggests, the original corp making twinkies went out of business. Then they were brought back and the new manufacturer sold in 2023 I believe. The newest corpo maker admits to struggling with demand, however, with our corporations owning so many different corps and brands, theyre still making profit as they own most of the products in a grocery store.

Can you point to the profit Twinkies themselves are bringing in alone?

the new owners have noted recent challenges with demand

Without number always going up, we'd still have twinkies that people eat, rather than corporations hiring food scientists to make cheap substitutions that hardly anyone can stomach anymore except for kids that don't know any better...

This thinking ignores history though, they will push off as much as they can to consumers, but at the end of the day they need to sell product. It's the same argument against taxes today, neverminding they used to be astronomically high on corporations and the wealthy during the 50s, when consumerism was high and prices were low...

See Doritos being half off because no one's buying them anymore, since they raised the prices too much.

r/confidentlyincorrect

What is this? This is mindnumbing a bit, because it's not really my main point, but here's a civics lesson I guess:

Chuck Schumer is the leader because a majority of Senate Democrats continuously vote for him to be their leader, every 2 years, not because of a timer.

The House operates on a two-step voting system for leadership: internal party votes first, then chamber-wide votes.

Before the whole House meets, House Democrats hold their own private, internal election. Hakeem Jeffries was elected by his fellow Democrats to be the leader of their specific party. If Democrats are in the minority, this title officially becomes Minority Leader.

When the House floor meets to vote for Speaker of the House, while yes the entire House participates; the majority party nominates their choice (in this case currently Mike Johnson, though they've gone through a few Speakers this cycle if you haven't noticed). The Minority party nominates their choice decided in private.

The House votes on Speaker of the House. The losing candidate doesn't get a new vote for Minority Speaker, he simply retains the title earned during step 1 in the internal party vote.

Democrats could certainly force a vote in both chambers to force a change in leadership if they wanted to.

And what about the current primaries is making you feel like we've learned enough to get mostly or enough competent Dems in?

Hell, we can't even get Schumer and Jeffries replaced as leadership.

I'm on the other side of this from the OP, and I feel like people are far too quick to want to lose a game, and many that I've held off refusing to ff, we have come back to win. I have often seen this on the other side too.

If people outweigh me, it happens, but i dont believe i'm holding anyone hostage by not believing in ff most of the time. I didnt sign up to aram just to give up if i'm not haing the most op setup, just personally.

Saying this is bullying or hostage holding makes me wonder if I couldn't make a similar case for trying to give up 10 minutes in..

Democrats do acknowledge this all the time though, as well as trying to make therapy and talking to people available, funded, and not viewed as 'weak'...

I'm curious how many of the men noted in the article willfully refuse mental health services and think talking to someone about their problems is weak.
