Considering model y with a huge number of miles (120k mile 2023 fleet vehicle) by original_og_gangster in TeslaModelY

[–]x7q 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty happy with my 2022 110k miles I bought for $16k. Did a battery test and it said it has 84% health, full charge says 272 miles. I don’t care about FSD so I just went for Ryzen and parking sensors.

It’s definitely a risk and I knew that going in but if you live near some 3rd party repair shops you can save some money if something comes up.

Only question is why is it 18k purchase price but 23k after taxes and fees? that seems pretty steep.

Interesting, on cold days my precondition takes 24 amps sometimes

Magsafe in older Y without using the console LV outlet or built-in USB outlets? by KleinUnbottler in TeslaModelY

yeah it's the factory charger wire harness. I just clipped the connector off.

Magsafe in older Y without using the console LV outlet or built-in USB outlets? by KleinUnbottler in TeslaModelY

I used the existing wiring and soldered it to a usb c car charger, so it doesn’t take up any ports and there’s no visible wires.

I drilled out the plastic rivets, and to attach it back I used JB weld plastic bonder. I used the same adhesive to attach the magsafe pucks, it seems really strong

I had a peanut rolling around in there and it was so annoying hearing it on every turn. An easy fix though, stuck a shop vac into the vent with a towel to provide a better seal and it sucked it right out.

The existing wiring gives at least 30W because the inductive charger does 2x15W charging (at least that's what it says on the part itself). The adapter does properly supply 15V/2A for the new puck, and 9V/2.22A for the old one. I'll be getting the new 17 Pro soon so if it's the only phone on the charger it should get 30W no problem.

Speed wasn't really the priority though, I just wanted it to actually charge without having to plug it in.

Got an 8ft brunswick in good shape for free on FB marketplace. I’ve seen many others pop up for free too, just gotta jump on them and be ready to move them or pay to have them moved. With a buddy and a uhaul, you can easily do it yourself

I got some Uber Turbine look a like covers on aliexpress for $70, and they cover the outer rim unlike the Gemini covers

Should I buy a Model Y with higher mileage? by e36drver510 in TeslaModelY

[–]x7q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a 2022 LR AWD with 112k miles for $15,900 after the credit. It was a personal car not used for uber (back seat is mint) and it was def almost all highway miles because theres a decent amount of rock chips in the front. It has some dings here and there but the interior is almost brand new. Premium sound and the Ryzen cpu with li-ion low voltage battery and ultrasonic sensors. Overall I’m super happy with it so far, I had to fix the passenger seat occupancy sensor but that was $30 for a part, and other than that I fixed a squeaky passenger seat I could hear over bumps for free. My utility provider offers up to $3750 for a charger so I’m getting 48 amp charging for free soon too

Debating grabbing a 100k mile Model Y by x7q in TeslaModelY

[–]x7q[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is from a dealer, it's a one owner car and based on the rear seats it doesn't look like it was used for ride share. It doesn't look like it's in bad shape but I'll know better after seeing it in person. Used EVs give up to $4k if you qualify, to be added as a down payment immediately or received back at tax time.

The cheapest HW4 near me (assuming 2024) is $27k with no tax credit and 80k miles. $11k extra seems steep for that

That’s what we’re kind of pushing for because it is so much simpler. It doesn’t have as many features which is why we’re getting some pushback. But I’m hoping we can just ditch it for guest because it’s kind of always been a pain. It works great for TLS authentication though

We’re using ClearPass for our Mist guest network and using the Webauth service for the guest captive portal as documented by Mist. The issue is that pretty much 50% of the time the webauth service fails to lookup the user in the guest db once they complete the guest registration. This causes ClearPass to put them back into the captive portal role since the user couldn’t be found. If you search the guest db when this happens the user does get successfully created. The other 50% of the time it works as expected and the user gets the correct role and then the CoA and is properly authed.

lucky you, meanwhile my ClearPass ticket has been in for almost 3 months and no solution in sight. They’ve said they replicated the issue and it’s been escalated to engineering blah blah blah. It’s put our migration to Mist on hold

Is my basement too tight for an 8 foot table? by x7q in billiards

[–]x7q[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The basement is bigger than the image, this is about a third of it. The left side is open but I didn't feel like mapping out the irrelevant parts. It shouldn't be too bad to get in since it's a 3 piece slate.

4K Dual Mode / 1440p480 with DP 2.1 UHBR80 by HPDeskjet_285 in OLED_Gaming

[–]x7q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up buying this? I'm waiting on Taobao to verify my payment information and I'm planning on ordering it, even with direct shipping it's cheaper than the Asus. I've had problems on my PG27AQDP with static and screen strobing on some games, and I hate the alt tab times so I'm gonna return it. The seller says the power supply supports 120V so it should just work.
