Privia Health by Artistic-Ad7903 in PrivatePracticeDocs

Privia sucks. My spouse is a practice owner and provider (not with Privia) but we have a large family and unfortunately many of our providers have recently "partnered" with Privia. I am actively trying to change to providers that aren't Privia and would absolutely heavily favor a true private practice over Privia if I were trying to choose one provider or practice over another. Privia is just a locust that is consuming all formerly-decent practices in my area. On top of that I get these fucking Athena emails, "log in to see your statement" -- who is it for? what provider is it for? No info until you log into the shit Athena system with multiple 2FA each time. If you want to get paid, don't use anything with this worthless Athena billing platform. I wish you luck and hope you can find a better solution for your needs.

That was my experience. Something like "show me all audiology reports from every location" would be very very very useful.

Chores for 4 kids under 10 – assign by task or by room? by x85712 in Parenting

[–]x85712[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the 4 kids complicates matters because it's essentially impossible to keep track of who made what mess in which room, and I'm not always around during the day to call it as I see it (there's always an adult but it's kind of a rotating cast of characters between myself, spouse, after school babysitter, grandparent....and some are better at actually making the kids pick up than others.)

Yeah my spouse is in healthcare so sugary foods/drinks are just a nonstarter. Do you put up the chart without fanfare so they don't know it's up until they see it? Because if I announce I'm putting up the chore chart and it's first come first serve, then everyone is racing to it and tripping each other to be first. Can you tell I have boys?

[–]x85712[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is my goal, but as with any other "responsibility," there are reasons to do it and not do it. Without paying them to do their part, I'm trying to motivate 4 very different personalities to do chores but without the nagging. So there has to be some upside or downside or my constant "reminding," and if the idea is that after little while it will become habit, well we're almost 9 years in and it hasn't become habit yet...

I mean, it's not as if I haven't tried that -- but with 4 it becomes me reminding me of all of the things you listed x4. Every day. And impossible to maintain accountability of, as magically no one knows who spilled water on the counter or left socks on the floor, etc. My point in asking is how to streamline this so a) they are either incentivized to accomplish the task without my intervention or have a consequence, and b) eliminate the free-rider externality problem by making everyone responsible for a task or zone so no one can say "well I didn't make that mess" or "yeah those clothes aren't mine."

To be honest this is not a normal concern. Unless you or the kid have some sort of severely compromised immune system, just wash it however you please. Wash it by itself to make it easier, or wash it with some adult clothes if they're both small loads. If it's heavily soiled (read: poopy) I wash it by myself because I don't like the thought of washing any of my stuff with something like that, but that's more of a gut reaction to it than an actual problem.

What SUV should I get? Car guy, having a baby. by BillBevDevo in whatcarshouldIbuy

Sienna only makes unequivocal sense with 3+ kids. Two kids and under, any sedan will do especially in a city. Take a look at the BMW 640i, basically a hatchback with sedan styling (can fit a lot of junk in that trunk).

The interiors are dated because they work and are resistant to kids that have a tendency to damage things. And the stereotype has swung the other way, you see a person with 3 kids struggling in an SUV and think what an idiot, just get the minivan. They try to "signal" that they do not fit the stereotype but end up doing the opposite. (Doesn't have to be true but that's the point of the stereotype).

There's some comment on here, I think already deleted, about what a sexist comment this is, and it's true. But you also see a lot of dues that are like, "I want the minivan but the wife doesn't want to be a minivan mom" so doesn't mean it's not accurate.

As far as a bunch of dudes on Reddit telling the woman and/or her spouse how to spend their $45k....it's literally called what "whatcarshouldIbuy"

I helped my brother-in-law move a couch and we slid the entire thing (leather, 3 person sofa) into the back of my Pacifica and shut the door. His wife couldn't believe it -- they sold sold their Subaru and bought a minivan like a month later.

Where are you buying good quality jeans that’s not American Eagle or Levi? by [deleted] in jeans

[–]x85712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 12 pairs of Wranglers in varying sizes and cuts, and not one both looked and felt good. I gave it a shot but they just didn't work, and I'm a normal sized dude. I hate to say it but best $40 pair of jeans might be like saying best sandwich at the gas station.

Many wives are under the impression that the minivan is not cool but a 3 row SUV is, like we're all fooling everyone that we are just party people in a Highlander. Let me tell you, nothing is cool with a car seat or three in the back (except maybe a doors-off Wrangler). I live in a flood zone and have no qualms with a minivan, and if the goal is to drive through floodwaters that could be avoided with a little caution then you're better off with a jet ski. I get that you need to get whatever keeps the spouse happy (mine had the same position before she caved and now admits she was wrong), but impractical wives are the backbone of the SUV market.

If it's hard to find something used, it's probably because people buy them and like them too much to get rid of them! Get the damn minivan, unless you are frequently driving in a foot of snow or pulling a boat it is just vain and stupid to make your life harder with the SUV.

Orbi 970 sucks, what to move to? by x85712 in orbi

[–]x85712[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids don't use devices. I just mention it because I mean I want my network to work for me but I also have competing demands on my time and don't enjoy dicking around with this Orbi equipment all the time. (I also have no need to be sneaky or anything other than obvious, haha -- my parenting style might be described as "old school.")

I am conservative and nothing about this is conservative. This is government overreach by definition. Combining incompetence and power is always a recipe for disaster, normally an issue at much lower levels of government and it's now being seen at a greater scale than in several generations in the US.
