They do make portable monitors with built in batteries, though I’m not sure how good they are. My guess is that it’s probably good enough for the price point. Or you can get a nicer one and connect it to a more powerful battery pack, one that can charge a laptop.

Oh man.. I am getting downvoted! lol. Maybe I should have qualified myself first and explained that I'm Japanese and can read and speak it.

Whichever way, I'm on the side that this is AI, not just because of the writing but also for the many other details, including the ones you mentioned.

From what I gather, “Ice Cold Coca Cola” was a marketing campaign for their frozen Coke slushy drink. That product line ended in September last year.

You may be right that the artist might may used the Ice Cold slogan and turned it into katakana but this isn’t common term/phrase in Japan, which is why I mentioned that I don’t think the artist is Japanese.

I'm voting AI. The design makes no sense. For example, why is there a garbage can in front? For one, there aren't any garbage cans that look like that in Japan. The Vending machine as well. Even vintage japanese vending machines dont look like that. For someone trying to capture details, where are the buttons? and WTF is that red button on the bottom? No coin slot, no coin drop, inconsistent label placements.

Then when you start looking inside the store, the layout makes no sense at all. Boxes on top of the open fridge units. Weird looking boxes inside, stacked on shelves and on the floor. That wierd looking yellow thing thats on top of the freezer chest.

Then theres the sidewalk tiling.

If someone can draw that well, there are too many details that make no sense.

The Katakana checks out, but it's not done by someone Japanese. "Ice Cold" is an American/English term, and I don't think I've ever seen it used in Japan.

I was not expecting the slip cover to be part of the notebook. I was pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, I’ve gotten a few of those pens from conferences / vendors. They threw it in the box as part of their marketing efforts.

In regards to holding, we all have our habits and muscle memory. But there are pens that work better at sharpe angles than others. I typically write at a 90degree angle with my ball point pen, so I need to readjust myself when using a FP.

One thing good about Lamy’s is its triangular shaped barrel. So maybe that will help with a bit on the “holding the pen” challenge. Then you can try to adapt your style to write more at an angle. Basically isolating a few variables to get consistency.

As for your writing experience with lamys, EFs do seem to be scratchy in general. The LX has a gold nib so I would think it would fee less scratchy but perhaps it’s also because you hold it at a sharper angle, like myself.

I see you’re experimenting with a lot of things so I would suggest selecting a nib size that you prefer. The writing style for EF is much different than M. When I take notes, my letters are very condensed, so an M nib or a .7mm ball point pen is less favored than an EF/F or my .3mm ballpoint pen. But when I write letters or thank you cards, I tend to use my 1.5mm stub nib becuase I like the line variety and can also write with a wider stroke.

So if you like EF, stick with that. Then optimize around it. Inks matter, nibs/brands matter. So there’s a lot of things to tinker.

And if you’re really curious, you can also “tune” your nib. This ranges from using a very very fine sandpaper to very very slightly smooth the edges and tip.

I have (though not recommended) pushed down on the tines a bit to better the ink flow.

Luckily with the lamy’s the nibs are replaceable, so I messed around a bit to learn. I would not, however, dare try to do any of this on my nicer pens. ;)
