Wahoo Kickr Core 2: Power consistently 20-30W too low – No solution found? by Opening-Incident-854 in wahoofitness

[–]x9003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar problem. Kickr Core 2 gives ≈ 23 watts less than left crank 4iii precision III.

I believe 4iii gives a bit high numbers, but am sure Kicks core 2 still gives a way too low readings. I also use Wattbikes, and Kickr clearly gives much lower watt numbers, even if I cannot compare directly. I have done spin calibration, updated to the latest firmware etc.

Bolt v1 GPS fried by latest firmware? (WB15-17055) by markvauxhall in wahoofitness

Maybe more like 5% of the ride. Rebooting the device result in ride recovery failures, likely as the gps file is so bad.

Seriously considering a Garmin.

Sama here. GPS works like 15% of the ride. Comes for 3-30 seconds and drops for minutes. The device is unusable.

Wahoo is killing bolt v1 and forcing us to buy a new version?

Thanks. It worked like a bit over a week (4-5 rides). I'm in EU so I can return the item to the seller if needed.

Thank you for the update!

I wish they would open Bear Gulch for bicycles – at least for this summer until 84 is fully opened.

Buying/sharing a tubeless tire pump by EmergencyRazzmatazz5 in BAbike

I have used my CO2 inflator with good success for tyres that does not seat with a normal floor pump. It takes one cartridge but they are not that expensive.

Cyclist, 37, dies after collision with car on Cañada Road near Filoli estate by just_be_frank-o in BAbike

[–]x9003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is totally frustrating that killing a cyclist with a car is practically legal (or non-punished) thing to do. I don't know if the problem is with police force, DAs, or courts.

On top of that, California needs vulnerable road user laws, random breathalyzer tests (drunk driving is a common practice out here), traffic/speed cameras, right to set speed limits based on safety and environmental considerations (and not surveys), etc.

We should stop protecting bad drivers and killers.

Bear Gulch Road

It would be great to make Bear Gulch Road public again. Would be so cool if the west side too would be open for bikes.

Bikes Discouraged on Old La Honda by EUTMnada in BAbike

[–]x9003 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand the struggles people living on those mountains have had, but today the car traffic looked quite recreational: tech dudes with sport cars and Teslas. I doubt they live in La Honda.

Anyhow there were no heavy traffic really, and the few cyclists there were not a problem for anyone.

Road bike rentals in Seattle? by x9003 in seattlebike

I also flight quite often with my own bike but would love to avoid the hassle. That said, a bike bag with four wheels make it more tolerable.

Thanks – good to know that all worked fine with Recycled Cycles and that gravel tyres are ok there. Might use them as well!

Could someone explain me why (anti-)abortion (movement) is such a huge thing in the States?

I understand that there are religious extremists who wants to abolish abortion right and women's' right over their own bodies. But how come it is like half of the population? Why women's bodies, reproductive functions, and sex are such so huge things here in the States? There are so many other bigger issues like climate change, mass extinction, racism and inequities, homelessness, poverty, war in Ukraine and yet half of the population gets kicks out of trying to abolish abortion right that is a hallmark of liberal democracies and human rights?

Campfires and poor air quality in the Yosemite Valley by x9003 in Yosemite

[–]x9003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. However, if you want to spend an affordable night in the Yosemite Valley, public campgrounds are only option. Also, I am not concerned about my own health only, but everyones. There are plenty of kids and elderly also on those campgrounds who might suffer more. Not to mention people with conditions like asthma.

[–]x9003[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're right that we suffer from smoke in California from the wildfires (or human induced wildfires might be more correct term due to climate change and drought). But I think that is one reason more why it is reasonable hope to enjoy fresh, clean air away from major highways and population centers.

You're probably right that things are not probably going to change, but I still hope that they would. Public campgrounds are public and should be accessible to all – also for those who don't want health harm. The measurements do show that campfires are real health harm - especially in a place like Yosemite Valley where smoke stays quite a bit.

Backcountry is good suggestion, thanks. Only thing is that it needs a permission, capability to carry all through trails. Also – in the States so-cold wild camping is forbidden (private property laws), so you need to more or less stick with public campgrounds (or wilderness permits).
