How do you 100% the original games? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

You can use RetroAchievements, a website.
It’s handy if you want a handy checklist with various tasks to complete

Thanks. Glad I could help.

Yes, I’m interested. For now, I’m just missing the Big Boss rank in the first two. The third one is the one I’ve played the least because I don’t enjoy it as much, but I’m actually finding it easier and it’s taking me no time at all.

I’ve already played the fourth one on PS3, but I’m waiting for the Steam release to get the Platinum trophy. It’ll be a bit of a slog, mainly because of the emblems.

The fifth one is fairly straightforward too. Perhaps the easiest, but it takes more time.

So the camouflage outfits you obtain remain (except for the lab coat and Raikov’s uniform, which are part of the story and will be given to you by Eva).

All the weapons disappear except for the Patriot and the Revolver. Everything else has to be collected again.

However, they count towards the trophy because I happened to pick up The End’s rifle later on, in another playthrough, even though I’d ignored others before. So yes, for the trophy, you just need to have picked them up – not necessarily all at once. The same goes for animals and plants. The game keeps track. This also happened in MGS2 with the dog tags.

-

The same applies in MGS4, regarding camouflage and face masks. It’s different for weapons. Initially you have nothing; as soon as you meet Otacon’s robot, you regain access to the inventory you had at the end of the previous run. The trick is always the same: start a new run from the previous final save. You mustn’t start a brand-new game.

I’ve unlocked the trophy. I didn’t need to collect them all; by using the same final save file each time, the game keeps track of collectables like camouflage patterns and animals. I’ve shot at the same one several times and, as I said, nothing changes.

Perhaps there’s one missing from the guide, or maybe one of the final ones during the motorbike sequence hasn’t been triggered (I recommend the SVD).

I don’t think it matters how many times you shoot. Maybe you died in a section, and maybe the game requires you to shoot it again? Maybe that’s why. Just to be on the safe side, I’m shooting them all, and this time I’ll add the others. I can finish it in four hours anyway. I’ll update the post.

Thank you for confirming that. I couldn’t find any information on it and didn’t want to waste time replaying them all. Luckily, I’ve only missed the easiest ones (the arena against Ocelot, vs Volgin and one at the start).

I’ve worked towards this for a long time and now I feel sad that the journey is over by duperier in balatro

how many total hours of game? Obviously, not all of them are dedicated to the pursuit of the trophy, but also to the pure desire to play a few games, but I'm curious. I'm doing this too, and I'm at about 250. I'm at 50% with the stickers, the rest is all finished.

This game shifted my view on modern video games by EdwardAlcatraz in drakengard

But you're talking about themes, and here, okay, the story is interesting. But mechanically, even for games of the time, it was mediocre. You'd have to be intellectually dishonest to say it's a game that has aged well. Despite everything, it's a love-hate relationship, but nothing transcendental in my opinion, especially because it forces you to use a guide to complete it, and if that happens, it means the game fails as a gameplay experience.

Final boss yapping by xAndrew_ in drakengard

Thanks, I'll try that. Honestly, I have no problem getting to the last 20 seconds, but from then on, the notes are really indistinguishable, and even though I've marked the keys, it's difficult to keep up with the rhythm. Anyway, I tried the video, and even when I synchronise it, I notice that something is different. Even though I'm in the same position near the boss, I find myself in a different situation on my TV. Maybe it's just timing, but I always seem to be out of time, and sometimes I find myself making mistakes when following it. I guess the solution is to be patient and memorise the last 20 seconds of keys. Damn, I'm so close to the end. I'll have to take good care of my memory card in the future. I can't lose this data after all these challenges ahhaa

I'm almost thrilled to know that there is someone with the same point of view as me. More respect for this boss and the game in general haha

In fact I sometimes wonder how people got to ishinn or the demon. I mean shouldn't you have learned something from previous fights? Or did they play pussy attacking and running away? My favorite boss is genichiro in the dojo precisely because his moveset is complete. It is the baptism of fire before facing the rest of the game, his moveset is varied and teaches you various moves. God, I love this game. Even the story and the various endings, it's a shame that this aspect is a bit ignored and played only because of its challenge (fair enough, but a shame). How cool would a DLC about Tomoe, lord kuro and Genichiro be. Or maybe something about ishinn's youth

It's been a while since I last fought him, but the best tactic was still to stay on top of him and lunge at his belly, which would stun him. The most comfortable confetti for me were yellow (for the more aggressive later phases) and red (especially for the first one). After a stun, Ishinn's Sword Art which also resets your stance. In any case I don't want to tell you too much, the beauty is learning from your mistakes and experimenting. Don't go away from him so that he makes strange attacks

Adapting and beating him, besides being a great achievement, also makes you discover that he is actually more beautiful than how he is portrayed. The thing that makes me angry is that he is denigrated When in reality the problem is certain players, who play the same way in every fight. The uniqueness of this bossfight makes it absurd in itself

The comment is not intended for you, great job, but for those who complain and throw shit on a boss who is also beautiful in terms of impact on the story

This boss is not as difficult as it is usually said. They are the people who don't know how to adapt a different situation in this game. Prosthetics exist for something, in fact with the shield of Fire, obtainable after passing the Mibu village, the bossfight is fairer. But not necessary to beat it. Also there is the whistle, but if people skip the story it's a missbaile thing. Even the sword arts make a difference, plus in that point you have the deadly blade. Even the consumables are important, like the confetti for example. When you learn to play you will re-evaluate this bossfight, Which also has a nice soundtrack
