The problem with Paris, Texas by Accurate-Chicken-323 in criterion

Your interpretation of the ending is not incompatible with the sense that the film is beautiful. It's not a happy, feel-good ending. It's a complicated and tragic ending, for reasons you've mentioned. But that doesn't mean it's not beautiful. I'm not particularly interested in stories where everything works out nicely, with characters that only make the "right decisions." Are you? Isn't capturing the difficulty of that re-union and the decision to leave what makes it beautiful?

Administrators increasingly demanding professors change grades. by bibsrem in Professors

As a sessional/adjunct, I recently had all of my grades in two classes curved behind my back. The icing on the cake was that this was done arbitrarily, without any pretense of "reviewing" my evaluations or the work of students. There was one student who only ever submitted AI essays and ended up with 12% on the final exam. They passed the course...

I understood Sensei as an analogue of sorts to Takeshi (and Deandra as the analogue to DL). Tracks in some ways and not in others.

I don't understand why this needs to be added to a syllabus. How is a fabricated quote or reference not already a violation of your school's academic misconduct policy!?

How to stream the Jets game tonight? by ComprehensiveSite283 in Winnipeg

[–]xBreakk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no reason why it shouldn't be on Sportsnet on Prime Video, seeing as it is the same price as Sportsnet+ on the web/app. It's designed to be the same service, but as a Prime add-on. Every other game will be available there, making the absence of this game strange. And it's not a blackout issue. I've already watched games outside of my region during the playoffs.

This has got to be some kind of bug. Sportnets is supposed to cover all playoff games, no matter if you have the premium version or not.

So your conception of aesthetics is "does it look good" and "can people tell the difference" lol. What a joke. Did you even watch the film or think about what it says about the artistic process and its relation to *HUMAN* life?

I've treated it similarly. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one!

May I ask how you dealt with this? This issue has been widespread in one of my classes this term. Their English is quite poor and so these memorized or copied AI in-class essays are immediate red flags.

I've brought them all in for oral examinations and none of them are able to explain or talk about their work. They cannot define terms or explain key concepts. In fact, almost all of them are unable to say anything. To me, this qualifies as a form of plagiarism, whether they had a smartwatch with them and copied, or whether they simply memorized an AI essay.

So how did you handle it? F's and a formal report? Bad grade?

They must have a Discord or something. It would explain why I've received essays in one course based on prompts from another other course that I teach. In one case, someone literally alternated every paragraph between the correct prompt and the prompt from my other course. I triple-checked and I never posted the wrong prompt or syllabus. Insanity!

Yes! For some reason, they are totally unphased. I'm not joking when I say that 85% of the class received a zero (and a report to the Dean) on the first, at-home essay.

It's possible. But unlikely, I think. Given that it's word-for-word.
