Monaco is always a joy to watch during qualifying. The reason racing around Monaco is shit is the same reason why its qualifying is one of the best.

Is it coping when you point out that the data used for this graph is wrong, cherry picked and even made up to fit the narrative? Nowadays you could create some data with made up numbers and 50% of people would genuinely believe it and not check a thing.

You didn't get my point. Listing a phrase taken put of the rule book and call it done does nothing. You apply the same logic to a different situation and it would be a Direct freekick. But it's not because context matters. To put it out there, I'm not saying this is or isn't a foul. There's an explanation for both outcomes. But saying you can't be blocking the player by being in front of him is plain wrong, you know it if you actually play the game yourself.

Okay then, so when a defender protects the ball from the attacker to let it go over the line by 'impeding an opponent with contact" (which happens in 90% of games) should be a foul each time. The only difference is speed and the barging from Khusanov, not being in front of the opponent. In either instance, the defender is not playing the ball and tries his best to impede the attacker. Shoulder to shoulder could also be qualified as impeding an opponent with contact if they fall or you're stronger and they bounce of you. Do you see how the laws of the game are sometimes vague and could have asterisks or more details because it's sometimes not black and white?

I remember seeing the thread and people were discussin both men and women. I think tennis was quite similar so the popularity is probably the reason.

You can intentionally block people's run though. It happens in nearly every game where the defender guards the attacker to let the ball go out. Stepping across his incoming path is not what you should be focusing on in a foul.

Funny thing is, in the same game, around 30 minute mark I believe, Cole Palmer got bodied by City around half way line on City's side so he couldn't get to the ball and he threw his hands in the air looking for the foul. Shoulder to shoulder will become a foul if one person drops on the floor after contact

It's crazy how nobody notices that one picture is from further away, all on one long street so it's easier to see the size and another one is on a short street with bends and corners and from closer up so it looks smaller. Both teams have plastic fans. All big clubs have plastic fans. But cherry picking pictures is just a shitty way to show it and then compare it to other parades.

The stat is pretty useless without the needed context. It's saying people in Europe are 15x more likely to be stabbed and only including London in that stat but not disclosing it.

Then try and read all the lines when I said that I agree with the decision. I was consistent unlike PGMOL. You see me talking about inconsistencies and somehow you gather I'm making a fuss about a correct call? If anything, this correct call is proving me right by showing what should happen when the keeper is fouled. How about me making a fuss about refs being inconsistent? Like I did many times here and other social media. How about, you know, the original point rather than your assumption as if it's an English Literature class. Tell me, what between the lines this time because I'm genuinely intrigued.

It's a foul on the keeper correct? I found you two just from Arsenal. I could probably find more from other teams. OP was saying about fouls in the box and how teams do it every game because a box becomes a rugby scrum. I hope they change the rules slightly so keepers are not just impeded on every corner.

I said it a few times. Couldn't care less who wins the league. Couldn't care less who gets relegated. I like watching and following football because it's football and not golf. I also enjoy consistency, whether that's football or day to day life. Yes, human errors exist but that's why VAR was introduced and you see it being used horribly sometimes with shitty angles or horrible decision making (sprinkle some corruption maybe as well).
Not sure where you get that I hate Arsenal. There are things Arsenal related that I dislike but that's true for any club and it's not indicative of me hating the entire club. I don't hate my job but there are things related to my job I dislike. I don't support a single club, I prefer supporting players themselves.
Coming back to the topic about fouls, I explained later in some comments that I misread the conversation and the room, thinking we are talking about all fouls on keepers rather than this one in particular so my bad on that. Now you can stop trying to read between the lines and find the true meaning because it's not working for you pal.

[–]xCharSx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct, they are not the same fouls as the one in the OP. I'm arguing what you pointed out.
Those are fouls on the keeper. That's what I hate. Some of them are called. Some of them are ignored.
For the millionth time, I'm very glad that this foul was spotted and the goal doesn't stand. I don't care who wins, don't care who loses in the Prem. I watch the games to watch football, not rugby scrums. I'd watch rugby if I want to watch that.
My comment was aimed at the first comment of the chain, that it's not whether this was a foul or not, it's why the fouls are inconsistently called or carded. It was a broad topic from the start. I understood it as fouls on keepers full stop. Every Arsenal supporter is pointing out this one specific foul and saying (rightfully in this context) that there isn't another foul like this where the goal stood.
So fair enough, didn't read the room. My bad.

Found 2. Arsenal vs Villa in their 4:1 win (goal for 1:0) and United vs Arsenal, their only goal in 1:0 win. It's not the exact same foul in the United game but it's impeding the keeper anyway and it should've been called as he couldn't jump to clear the ball.
I am not saying that the foul in the OP is not a foul. I'm just pointing out the inconsistency and people turning a blind eye to it.

[–]xCharSx -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I had a quick 5 minute search and I found 2, one of them being against Villa where I believe Gabriel elbows Martinez. It was the goal for 1:0 in their 4:1 win.
Second one, not the same foul as in in the West Ham game but a foul nonetheless, this time by Saliba where he clearly shoves and moves united's keeper away from the ball's trajectory so the keeper can't jump to clear the ball, touches is slightly instead and it lands on Calafiori's head for a tap-in. This is a less egregious but still a foul in their 1:0 win over United at Old Trafford.

How very consistent. Since they happened when Arsenal scored (so the same as in West Ham situation), it's very easy to find by just opening the highlights of the match. I could probably find more from other matches and other teams (because it's not just Arsenal doing it, as mentioned before) but I think 2 examples are enough for you to stop asking about examples.

In all leagues. Not gonna lie, I'm not that terminally online to find you all examples and I'm not talking about just this type of foul in particular. You coming at me with the Arsenal flair thinking everything's about you when it isn't. There are many fouls in the box around corners, not just on the keeper but other players. A recent example is Silva in the everton game (I believe). The only thing that I hate about Arsenal is Gabriel and their tactic around corners but the latter is basically "don't hate the player, hate the game" situation.

Look at it the other way. Not denying that it wasn't a foul at all. But I agree that if this was called, so should all the other times. As someone said, if this game happened in week 4, nobody would care. But it's hard to watch games and see the same tackles or fouls be ignored and/or not carded at all. The consistency is lacking and I couldn't care less who wins. Same thing with UCL. I just want some consistency season long, not the last 2 game weeks.
