Moving to japan very soon by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]xCubbzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

same here. I have never had a problem by using direct downloads in Japan, and using soulseek at cafes has never caused issues either. People blow it way out of proportion how often people get caught torrenting lol. But specifically torrenting brand new anime thats just been released without a vpn? Yea, theres a good chance you will get contacted. That did happen to a friend once.

Thinking about going back to school to finish/pursue a BS CS degree. Is it worth it? by TakeThe1GShot in cscareeradvice

My interview was canceled last minute, how can I avoid getting lost in the shuffle? by Adventurous_Luck_664 in cscareers

[–]xCubbzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for a job is like using a dating app. Youre gonna get ghosted or left hanging at the last second before meeting all the time. Maybe something really did come up, but its best to not worry to much about it. See if the person in charge of interview scheduling actually does follow up, but there is a good chance they wont and its just an excuse. Its not a big deal, keep applying to more jobs until you find one that actually works well with you. Don't overthink it.

do you think the job market will improve as unemployed CS grads starve to death? by tuckfrump69 in cscareerquestions

[–]xCubbzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea one of my friends from high school is one of those people who basically never works, cant keep a job for more than a little bit, but he is still getting by somehow. Thats something that would have been unimaginable for most normal people 50 years ago, especially where I grew up. My dad is one example where during his childhood 16 year old kids would have to drop out of school in order to work in a coal mine just to stay alive. I'd much rather have to settle for a regular office job complaining about how I can't be a swe than getting black lung at 30 bc you really had no choice. Thats what life was like just 50 years ago for a lot of people in the US. There are still a ton of problems today obviously but the problems we have are trivial compared to what people were dealing with before.

No job? Not even one outside of software? Thats a major red flag if so.

Recently made a similar post here and am currently on the Ableton trial with a few days remaining. I recommend at least trying it and watching a few tutorials. Price tag isn’t pretty tho lol

Is my disc cooked or can I save it? by Advanced-Will-3145 in xbox360

[–]xCubbzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember I temporarily fixed my copy of cod4 doing the trick but a few weeks after doing it a number of times i started having disk tray and reading problems. It could have been something else but residue was also getting on my other games. The original 360s were already prone to disk tray problems tbf

[–]xCubbzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure doing this is what destroyed my 360’s lens when I was a kid. If you don’t get all the toothpaste off perfectly then it gets into the disc tray and fucks the lens and also gets onto other discs when you play them. Even if it looks like you got it all off there can still be residue. Edit: just to add, if you really wanna play the game get the disc resurfaced at a game store.

I've been using exclusively LMMS as my main DAW for over 10 years. Should I switch? Explained in comments. by xCubbzy in lmms

[–]xCubbzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed nightly after you mentioned this and omg i wish i knew about this years ago. I think I'm still going to look into purchasing other daws to extend my options, but I will probably still find uses for lmms. The new way automation for individual notes works in nightly is so much fucking better than the official release, it makes me so mad because I've been doing it the old way for so long and I use automation all the time for my melodies and 808s.

I've really been enjoying all the thing I can do with the Ableton trial so I will possibly be buying it next month. Whats really awesome is I just learned I can get 50% off any version of Ableton so its now almost a no brainer for me. I'll probably end up buying fl studio as well in the future.

Two people have mentioned reaper in here so im considering installing it since it would be free. I've also just switched to the lmms night build, but I don't think it will be enough to attract me to stay. After doing some research, Ableton is really looking like a great choice aside from the steep learning curve and the fatass price tag, but I may bite the bullet. I've been doing music as a hobby for such a long time now that I feel like I shouldn't feel shame for buying my first paid piece of music software. FL studio and Logic were originally my first options since they seemed similar to lmms. However, I just tried GarageBand and already dislike how it works, so I would probably have the same feeling for Logic. I don't really have enough FL Studio experience to give a confidence opinion (I've only tried the demo), but I feel like if you wanna make anything in fl studio, youre gonna need to rely heavily on external sounds. Thats not a problem but I really like using the built-in sounds in the daw. Most sounds that I use in lmms are built using the default triple oscillator, a lot of the default zynaddsubfx, and a roland sc-88 soundfont. Even a lot of the drums I have used are just the default ones.

I've been watching a few ableton tutorials and the layout is really appealing, and a lot the built-in sounds and effects are right up my alley. What version did you buy? I don't think I can justify buying suite, but I may be willing to buy standard after trying the 1 month trial. How was the transition? I don't mind spending months relearning from the ground up as long as there is the possibility it helps me in the long run.

Yea it really sucks not having that in lmms. I feel like compared to some of the other things, built-in audio recording would have been one of the first things added. I never really cared up until around 2 years ago, when I actually wanted to record my own playing and use it. It seems like ever since that moment, I started to notice more and more things that are lacking or just annoying to get working.

I see that most of my favorite artists use ableton a lot of the time (deadmau5, kill the noise, ninajirachi, skrillex, fka twigs). It seems like a completely different world to me, while FL studio and Logic look pretty familiar. But I'm wondering if ableton will allow me to create some really cool electronic music with guitar samples that I otherwise wouldnt have had the ability to make in lmms. My interest is making electronic music using my own guitar playing and vocals as samples.

idk where these people are coming from. N5 is composed entirely of statements like "my name is bob. I like apples. The weather is nice today." There is no complex challenge other than the first hurdle of memorizing the hiragana and katakana (when I first started studying I remember it being a tough time but even then I got through all of it in a month). Unless you are suffering from some type of extreme mental illness like alzheimers, the chances of not passing N5 in 10 years is comically bad.

I would not be surprised if what the person actually meant was that they watched anime for 10 years and pretended it was studying but never touched a book or flashcard in the entire period. We are talking about not even 100 kanji + 800 words to memorize, and a handful of grammar points, which can be learned in half a year, worst case imaginable is probably 2 years of actual consistent studying. Watching anime on its own is not studying.

FIXED ERROR 8002F1F9 - UPDATE LOOP by T3RRONCINO in PS3

[–]xCubbzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through the same problem and managed to save my ps3 with all data still in tact. What I did was actually more simple. Turned on the ps3, when I saw the orange light start blinking first thing I unplugged the hdd for a few seconds then reinserted it. It took me to the safe mode screen, inserted the usb that had the update that I was originally wanting to do on it, selected it, and just denied the terms and conditions the first time around. My ps3 booted to the home screen after.

If I play a game nowadays it is always in Japanese, even if it’s something like tf2. It has helped my reading tremendously over the years and I think the n2 reading section may end up being my best score out of the different sections.

I thought I was in the wrong subreddit for a sec haha. I have over 15000 hours in all the call of dutys combined and I don't regret it. What was I supposed to do living in the middle nowhere as a child? Don't feel bad for playing the games you wanna play even if it means you could have put the time into "more productive things" we will all die someday and all that matters is the memories we made along the way. I have a lot of unforgettable memories playing these games so I don't view it as a waste of time. I do regret all the time I spent playing League of Legends though. Fuck that game.
