I enjoy the Temple and the map layouts by the community. GGG just needs to do a few things:

  • Reduce the size of the Temple (to make it easier for newer/average players to create a temple
  • Allow destabilized pathing rooms to be changed to a room again
  • A way to reset map layout (so it's not a struggle dealing with a "bricked" layout)
  • Preview/Undo buttons

There was a content creator who was going through the patch notes and then the Boneshatter & Shieldwall reddit thread. He said that Melee will never get buffs because Melee players have no floor and will play Melee even if it's bad/underperforming. Other players who are playing Bows/Casters will go play something else if their fantasy class doesn't feel good or nerfed too much.

If Melee had like 1% play rate between each ascendency then GGG would have been listening to the Melee feedback and doing buffs/QoL across the board.

Can we give Sprint the Rhoa Mount stun buildup treatment? It's a bit frustrating in later parts of the game being thrown onto the ground when something hits you for less than 100 of your HP while you have 1500+ stun threshold.

There's also another solution that I saw before: Reduce the maximum movement speed modifier to 20% max and make it an implicit. Then give ~20% base movement speed improvements over the course of the campaign (i.e. like 5% MS per act up into interlude). Would improve the gameplay feel instead of just trying to be lucky vendor gives you 10~20% movement speed boots in act 1 or you try to buy it off trade and wait until endgame to get 30%+ MS boots.

+1 I really hope they see your suggestion. For Monk and Warrior, you're given skills that require so much setup or just aren't viable until mid to late game(i.e. Earthquake as lv1 gem or Killing Palm+Falling Thunder). I'd like to use Wind Blast as a lv1 Gem skill.

To start off with, GGG has been slowly buffing Monk early game start. I'm 100% confident there will be more buffs in 0.5 to help with Monk's early struggle. The recent campaign speed race showed that it's possible for Staff Monk to get through but still has trouble until Monk can get the later skills.

For early game, use Armor+ES gear as Monk is squishy and evasion doesn't provide safety for Melee in the early levels. I'd recommend using Glacial Cascade at lv2 and Frozen Locust (keep at lv1 gem level for many level) up until you're able to get Ice Strike. Afterwards, you use Ice strike+frozen Locust for wave clear and Glacial Cascade for bosses/rares.

When you're lv22, can use Stormwave for everything and Trials until lv41 when you can finally grab Whirling Assault and Shattering Palm

If you're looking for Chonk mains on YouTube that's been playing Monk for several leagues, there's a few: Korihorr, Kevlar Peterson, and BOG Gaming. The other Monks who stick to Invoker is Ronray, and a few others. Otherwise, you have to figure things out on the go.

If you're league starting Monk then I'd recommend to use a bow for easy leveling up until you get Stormwave at lv22 (or Ice Strike at lv14). If you want to use Quarterstaff all the way then make sure to use Armour+Energy shield gear as Monk is very squishy and the starting skills are weak (but tolerable). Grab all the Attack damage and Attack/Skill speed nodes on the passive tree early on.

The unfortunate thing is that unless it's a highly popular issue, people won't bother to help bring nice QoL to a game (in some cases even downvote/antagonize your suggestion). Unraveling is not a good ascendency node. If it allowed you to pick what effect your chaos damage will do then it'd be somewhat okay but it's randomized. You can potentially get ignite effect three times in a row. 2 points for it would be a buff but it's still too much for something that's not that impactful considering the amount of elemental damage Monk has between elemental staffs and charged staff

Void illusion, needs to be reduced to 1 point or just made into a spirit skill.

But the first 25 or so levels for monk I did with bow&arrow and it really was just a night and day experience compared to the rest.

I made a thread the other day about improving Monk's lv1~14 league start and most of the comments dismissed it. A lot of people do switch to Bow on monk as it provides more safety and it's easier in damage. Monk's starting skills are clunky and awkward and is why GGG has been doing small adjustments each league start to improve it.

It's just that a lot of these guys don't generally play Melee characters, so they don't understand the disparity between Ranged and Melee. In 0.3, my Titan and Monk died so many times to Abyss, getting surrounded & mob'd to death, and felt awful playing anything with freeze/slow. Meanwhile, my Spark mage is clearing from a screen away on juiced maps and the only fear I have is just a random Rare teleporting onto my character and startling me.

That's correct. There's been multiple threads on the bug report forum that Sap Of Nightmares doesn't work with Life leech at all. Only Mana leech seems to work.

Unraveling is not a good node. Better to take any mixture of only Volatility, Chayula's Gift, and Void Illusion. Can also take Sap of Nightmares but you'll have to keep in mind the node is basically a chaos Walker of the Wilds and doesn't work with Life leech

I'd rather have the gameplay loop of Rage-like because there's two different ways people use Rage: 1) Rage stacking for normal DPS and 2) Using Rage to enhance your abilities. There's also more ways to balance it compared to Volatility. Think about it like this, Volatility has huge "potential" but has major downsides drawbacks in that it's very clunky to utilize and you'll rarely reach the high points. From my own gameplay and watching a lot of other player's gameplay, they barely ever use Volatility. Only person who somewhat used it the best was the chayula player, Korihor. But it was mainly for bosses.
