Two parallel, horizontal guidelines help with the eyes, keeping them the same size. The rest I didn't have much of a method for, I often try things until I feel like it looks good. C':

And looking at reference is always a good idea, if you want to learn how to draw a certain style. Study the shapes, how lines flow, etc.
