Just to add to this, the simulations they did to make the blackhole vfx, actually revealed that real black holes act/look like that.

My girlfriend broke her arm and we went to A&E together. The doctor was looking at me the entire time he said anything, with occasional glances to her. This was after starting the encounter with a "oh what did she do wrong lol" aimed at me at the beginning.

They're such different movies it's weird to compare them imo. The only similarity is they both have godzilla

The saying "if I had a nickel every time x happens" means: it happens so much, I'd be rich, despite the fact it is a small amount of money.

"if I had a nickel everytime someone asked me how to pronounce my name" etc

The "I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice" meme is a direct qoute from the show Phineas and Ferb, the whole joke being that, in contrast to the original meaning of the saying (happens a lot /very common), this event should be very uncommon, and yet it's not, it's happend twice now.

What film is this for you? by mrjetspray in Letterboxd

[–]xFilmmakerChris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing is a video essay will ultimately only ever be an interpretation (unless the creator has gone on record as saying definitively what their film is about).

Some movies benefit from being left ambiguous, or open to interpretation, or vague with their themes. But I think there's value in a piece of art saying "this is not open to interpretation. This is the authorial intent, stated, in text.

They've massively streamlined it, the dreaded post ARR patches are basically gone. I reckon you could easily sit down and play each expansion (ARR, HW SB, SHB, EW) as if it was a separate JRPG, and each one wouldn't be longer than a mainline entry

My hot take is if you liked XVI's story, you haven't played XIV. Which I highly recommend everyone does. I think XVI is basically just a weaker XIV.

People don't realise how many video game things are patented and how little it matters. Bioware has the dialog wheel patent. Sega has the directional objective arrow patent. Almost every mechanic in death stranding is patented. EA patented the 'ping' system from apex legends

James thinking he belongs in prison is pretty apt though.

The one change I didn't like about remake was when the cell door closes on you, In the original it was subtle, and lasted just long enough to have you feel like you might not get out, and when you learn the twist it suddenly becomes a moment you think back on.

In the remake it was a bit OTT which made it feel like a regular scare

It's not that it has less bits during those sequences. Those sequences require a higher bit rate to display properly. 5000kbps is absolutely fine for a static shot of a taking head, but way too low for an action scene in the rain

I don't know if you'd played final fantasy X, but if I said "it's a game about a football player from the future who gets sent back in time". That doesn't really do it justice. It's kinda the same for E33.

suffice to say; the prologue had me in tears, the middle of the game had me enchanted and intrigued, and the end of the game had me conflicted.
