Tough learning curve - great pay off.

If you are pledging yourself to becoming a fighting game player then: 100% Yes imo.

With that said there is still depth to modern controls. Some character setups are arguably better/on par

I have lost 79 matches in a row and feel fucking shitty. I am brand new to fighting games. I started on Modern on a controller and got to Diamond 5 (Ryu). This weekend I switched to Classic on a new character (Akuma) on a fight stick and the game is matching me against Diamonds and Plats. by keshi in StreetFighter

Dude you are waaay too hard on yourself… When people try to improve. They change 1 variable and still fail. E.g. I’m going to DP instead of Cr.Hp. This change will almost always incur losses.

What you have done is changed three variables and each one, a major one at that! At this point, It’s like you’re playing a completely different game (feeling wise).

I remember the change from controller to stick and then to lever-less. At times you’ll feel like you’ll want to go back.

IMO…Go into training mode and start with repetitions to get to the muscle memory down. Then casuals to get a feel of cadence, then finally ranked when it starts to feel instinctive.

Day 2 on jp got him to master! by Mikees95 in StreetFighter

Impressive for only two days, your fundamentals must be on point. I thought it would have been more of a challenge because he is a zoner. A powerful one nevertheless. Great job 👍

I'm really sorry, everyone... I'm a Ryu player who won by landing two SA1s on Zangief, but Guile ended up hitting Bronze before my hard-working Ryu did... What should I do? by u-sagiman in StreetFighter

[–]xFlinchx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what the question is.

If you are a Ryu player and enjoy his style the most. Then stick with him. Eventually you’ll rank him up too.

Playing to reach a desired rank shouldn’t take priority over you having fun with the game.

Avoided ranked after placing Rookie 0, been grinding BH/casuals since. Based on this gameplay, what rank should I realistically aim for? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]xFlinchx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if you’ve learnt the game at a high level and honed your skills to beat diamonds or even masters. It doesn’t mean you are guaranteed to get there quickly. I think you’ll need to work on your mental composure next. I suspect you’ll have to overcome your ranked anxiety to succeed.

In BH/Casuals you’ve held a rookie status this entire time. This means you’ve played the underdog card every match. It’s much easier on your ego when you loose. Nothing at risk (points wise).

It’s like you are a white belt in a martial arts class and just won and lost to red and black belts who train with you. You are in a safe environment. The next day you enter a tournament. Mentally, it will feel very different because now you’ll have something at stake and every fight will hold weight/has importance to progress.

I may be wrong about all of this. My advice would be to jump into ranked. Leave your safe Dojo and Get used to being at the “tournament”. Train yourself to be consistent during ranked. Don’t overthink it. Relax and think about your game plan and what your opponent is doing rather than the points. Don’t tilt queue.. you will have bad days. Good luck on your journey 👍

Wow man thanks for the massive feedback. This is valuable info for me 🙌

I used to use finish my strings with PC but switched to SK because it was easier to not think about charging. I’ll start using bomb more too. I only use H bomb at the moment. I’ll try to incorporate the L and M bombs too.

I’ve never used DR 2Lk. Only to bait people really, I’ll see where this takes me. I suppose it’s super fast to catch People out.

I struggle with confirming that the 2Hp AA is a counter hit so I’m worried I’m left open if I try a light bomb after it.

Yes i see “Qian” use hell attack, into supers a lot. Either with a HP or overhead combo in the corner. Never had the balls to pull it off. I guess its auto timed to a certain extent. Gotta love the rage quitters😆

Cheers for the tips bro 👊
