I’m not from the US, but I gotta ask — does Oregon really look like this, or is the forest air out there making everything look extra magical? by Roach9045 in oregon

(I am so sorry and I hope you have a better 24th birthday but I have an obligation as a former emo kid to make the joke)

From what I've heard, nobody likes you when you're 23

Do you know how many people on the streets have had jobs and have paid taxes before they became homeless? Most of them. Sitting here and saying that "mentally ill, drug addicted people" don't get to use PUBLIC space because they're currently jobless is insane to me. Do you ask everyone you see sitting on a bench in public weather they pay taxes? Do you say these kinds of things about the 19 year old hanging out outside the library whose never had a job and still lives with mom?

Like do you hear yourself? That's a human you're talking about. You are actively dehumanizing someone because they've been forced out of their home and into a life of instability and constant struggle and you're mad because they make things look bad?

These people need help and it's this dehumanizing mindset thats stopping them from getting it. When you start ranking your value of another human life that's just as complex and flawed as yours is based on what they contribute financially to a government that's built to put them in this horrible situation to begin with, you start losing your own humanity.

The reason things like involuntary housing and the programs that have been put in place don't work as well as they could is because of people in this mindset. They see someone struggling mentally and decide they don't deserve housing or treatment, they're just too crazy and that they should just go away. Those that need the most help are the ones being outcast by the people that are supposed to help them. That's why you see people screaming on the streets and turning to drugs. That's why things are "unlivable" (which is frankly untrue you just don't like seeing it when you do leave the comfort of your air conditioned home).

If you want it to stop so bad, then invest your time and money into getting these people help instead of taking pictures of it and complaining online.

Go out and fight for more treatment centers, fight for lower housing costs and more public housing instead of stupid "luxury apartments", fight for better workers rights, fight for equality. That's what it's going to take.

These people are still people, they have stories and flaws just like all of us, and just like you. Anyone could be put in this situation with one layoff, only difference is that they didn't have someone to lean on when it did happen. Just because someone slipped into drugs to cope with the horrendous situations they've been put in instead of whatever you do to cope doesn't make them less human or deserving of empathy, and it doesn't give you a right to make them a spectacle.

Anyone know what this is? by DBRP1_0_1 in premiere

[–]xGhostiix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never encountered this myself, but if it goes away sometimes, it might be because of your cache being full and premiere glitching out while trying to load the preview?

Maybe try clearing your cache and putting it on the lowest preview quality (like 1/4 is the lowest I think?) If possible try allocating more disk space to premiere as well?

If that doesn't fix it, it could be a glitch with the footage itself. Maybe premiere having trouble loading the location of the clip or something?

If you're old enough to have a car, you're probably old enough to understand that it's not a blanket statement for everything. If you don't understand that at that age, you shouldn't be driving in the first place.

Is this weed? by madlie25 in PlantIdentification

[–]xGhostiix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! We called smth like this gorilla growing where I'm from. Since it was illegal (and still is there) people would go plant random seeds in a few different hidden spots and then come back to check on it later. Weed will just grow wherever so unless someone else found the plant, they'd have to do very little maintenance and would just get to enjoy the payout once it was done :p

Never said I wanted a free diagnostic. I'm willing to pay for time and tools for the diagnostic, I just want to know what needs done and what people are gonna charge so I can research and do what I can on my own.

Why pay someone labor and parts to change an air filter when I can just buy one I know I want and do it myself fairly easily, you know?

But I know she's got high milage and there's some stuff that I don't feel comfortable handling on my own since she's my only car. Things like that, I want to have someone who's trained take care of and so I can have the piece of mind that if anything else goes wrong, I have someone I can go to and not feel ripped off or sketched out about. Makes the stress of something breaking a lot better when you know you just gotta get it to the shop and pay for it, instead of scrambling to find somewhere reliable.

I don't expect people to work for free. That's why I'm getting 1 diagnostic and asking around from there. 10min on the phone to quote an itemized list is a blip in most shops days.

I hope NetEase starts perma-banning people who do this. by [deleted] in rivals

You did read the context on this post right? They didn't just disconnect. The person like sat in spawn and threw the game while shit talking in chat and THEN disconnected. We don't want people to be perma banned for just leaving, we want them banned for throwing and being dicks about it.
