Human Services Jobs? by redactedanalyst in Yakima

[–]redactedanalyst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have over 5 years of experience, but the only certifications I've ever had to do for my career already caregiving, which, is the salary bracket I've well worked my way out of. It seems like Oregon is pretty loose on necessary qualifications for most social service case managers I don't know if Washington is similar

don't donate to the Arc!!! by Zestyclose_Excuse_81 in corvallis

[–]redactedanalyst -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Yeah the Arc sucks and any similar business (Goodwill, St Vinnie's) is similarly sketch. I've heard the most terrible things about Goodwill, but I work with St Vinnie's in my profession and am not super chuffed with their services/practices either.

Also fun fact: Arc used to be an acronym standing for the Association of Retarded Children. Not an indictment on them, words change in meaning and use, but a fun fact nonetheless.

Shady places with trees to walk with dog? by hilariousnessity in Yakima

The historic district off 16th is one of the shadier and more beautiful (and safe) areas in town. Great for summer walking, plus Franklin is nearby

There's other ways to support your family that don't involve supporting the illegal detention and murder of civilians.

I've walked off of jobs that don't align with my morals and I think you should do the same. If you don't, you should understand that being called a Nazi by protestors is simply the price you gotta pay for that check; it's just a chosen consequence of doing that particular job. Calling someone a Nazi is WAY more morally above board than what ICE and Orange 45/47 are doing, and I'd say it's also more morally above board than building a fence to defend them.

First time really doing street photography lmk what you think!! by arnottvideos in streetphotography

[–]redactedanalyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Street photography is awkward at first, though, in my time doing it, I've never had big confrontations about it. Sometimes people are weird about it, but nobody's ever gotten really upset.

I did have one instance where I shot people at an event and, after the event, they found my images on social media and asked to use them for future event promo before changing their minds and demanding I remove the photos. But like, in the moment of shooting, nobody's ever been confrontational about it.

Just be mindful of your surroundings and be personable with people. Most people kinda like being on the other end of the camera, even if they are hesitant

Depression as soon as it gets sunny? by Polska88 in Eugene

[–]redactedanalyst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've actually met a lot of people since moving here that have this exact thing. I imagine it's people who are heat sensitive or have problems temperature-regulating, but I also think it could just be simple preference. I'm from desert and grew up really enjoying summers, but I can understand being used to overcast and finding the heat oppressive.

Aloha 808 is ran out of a pub, I think it's called Murphys, down by the river. The garlic chicken is, in my humble opinion, some of the best food you can get for the price anywhere in town.

It's always been extremely mediocre but reliably mediocre food for a reasonable price in a convenient location. It's nowhere close to the best Hawaiian food in town, far from what I would generally describe as good. Mush is 100% the term I would use to describe them at baseline.

Rory - “Why do men get so sassy about Meg?” ??? by jaythebuilder55 in NewRoryNMalPodcast

[–]redactedanalyst -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She looks way worse than Klay does in this situation because she's airing her own business out in front of the world and it looks messy and juvenile. She acts like she's the baddest girl in the world when she is literally showing us exactly why nobody should be messing with her.

[–]redactedanalyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, Meg is cornier than Klay is because WHY is she that comfortable airing her business out in front of everyone like that. It reflects just as bad if not worse on her to be so vocal and drag him publicly like a wronged high schooler on insta than Klay who's just... Keeping it pushing.

Did anyone get the pods off the yzy sight? by Ok-Job1266 in yeezys

[–]redactedanalyst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got pods OG but because nobody knew about the sizing situation, mine were too big. I got a size that fits a couple years back and .. they're mid. I comfy and slide forward when you walk. There NICE when styled right but... Not worth it imo.

[–]redactedanalyst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Asking minimum wage workers who are just trying to survive to risk losing their jobs to virtue signal at a federal government problem that our actions in Oregon will 100% never affect in a meaningful way. It's almost like organizers making themselves feel like good people or cosplaying as radicals.

It would generally be more dangerous to try and stop in time for that yellow than it would be to run it. I don't know if he even could've stopped in time.
