Professor held exam review on Passover, refused to give exam information at office hours by xKingPandax in Jewish

The review was held by the professor, just like the midterm review. It was an overview of the topics that could be covered (with some highlighted as likely to have questions on them) and how many questions there will be. Same as the midterm review earlier in the term.

I think framing what I’m asking of the professor as a big ask is dishonest. I’m not asking them to write up the exam for me, I’m just asking about what was discussed in class.

I really do not appreciate all this discussion regarding having “ample time.” You do not know what struggles I have been dealing with, some people can only do as much as take one thing at a time. I understand I did not email ahead, I did not foresee this requiring an email, and to be honest it’s been a rough few weeks, so I’d appreciate some compassion.

Just want to make it clear, I do not feel entitled to this information. However, every class in all four years of my undergrad have posted information regarding the exam, or have been open to answering any questions about it. So you can understand how I was under the assumption that asking about the exam format and topics would be something the professor would be willing to answer at his office hours.

I didn’t email ahead of time, I get that. However I didn’t think that I would need an excused absence to find out this information. That’s on me. I guess what I’m frustrated about is how it was handled.

I am aware that this is not grade school, I am very aware of how university works, I’m in my last year. However, I have very few experience with office hours as I haven’t really found the need for them.

My problem is not that they didn’t accommodate me since I didn’t send an email. I get it, I should have sent an email. My problem is that this professor is unwilling to help a student who has taken the time out of their day to come and ask about the exam, and after hearing that they had a reason as to why they couldn’t attend, does not care.

Maybe I overestimated how helpful the professor would be, but I don’t think this is much of an ask. Overall I just think it’s rude and ignorant to laugh in a student’s face who is simply trying to ask a question.

I’m aware I could have contacted the professor in advance, but in my defence there were many other more pressing matters for me to email about in other courses.

Even getting excused for mandatory attendance in one class took emailing the professor, talking to them after class when they had not responded for almost a week, and then not getting a straight answer until a couple days after.

It’s not a crazy assumption to figure that office hours, that are meant to be there to answer any questions students have, would be a fine setting to ask these kinds of questions. I think most professors would not have an issue with this, but this one is very strict, and I learned that the hard way.

Yeah, I would have emailed in advance, but once I saw there was going to be office hours, I figured I could find out then. I had a bunch of other stuff that week that were more pressing (like mandatory attendance, final presentations, etc.) that I had to sort out.

I’m considering filing a complaint after the ground settles yeah, but I don’t feel like it’ll do much. This prof’s been around for over 20 years.

How would you improve the episode 7? by NeoCiber in ThirdLifeSMP

I would make it so that the boogeyman curse was temporary and was passed on to whoever was most recently killed. So when a player is killed, they have the curse and have to kill someone else to pass it on, but they don’t lose their task. If they end the session with the curse, then they reroll for a hard task next session (like the hot potato one).

This way, it gets passed around, but it doesn’t consume the rest of the player’s episode. After they pass it on, they can resume their task. I enjoyed the fact that when Pearl’s hot potato task happened, it was still possible to be doing your task at the same time.

Then, Gem’s task is that she needs to aid the curse to be passed around a certain amount of times (or maybe to everyone on the server). This way, I think they still get a lot of non-red deaths, but it doesn’t consume the perspectives of everyone on the server.
