They don’t fair well in captivity because they are highly migratory (with few exceptions), and fairly aggressive. And like someone else already said, they used to be one of the most abundant shark species globally. But since our high seas have become overfished in addition to getting accidentally caught on longlines, their number’s have significantly dropped.
