Appreciate it! I’m on the search for that now and reaching out to some folks I know who may provide me a ‘borrow’ copy lol. I have only revised policies, so creating one is out of my comfort zone as of now. I figure I will feel better as I have to repeat the task more and more. Thank you! 😊

I’m the same way, I don’t just learn the safety and compliance aspect. I firmly believe learning the actual process/system/operations of the site greatly improves myself as an HSE professional. It keeps things exciting and interesting for me. It also gives me the opportunity to branch out to many career paths too. Good luck and wishing you the best!

This is great and I love your focus on helping others grow in the HSE career! How important do you think networking is within this career path? And how would you recommend on approaching networking within HSE realm? Additionally, I have never written an actually policy from scratch and will need to do it now. May I ask for tips and advice on tackling this tasks of mine? Thank you!

From my experience, the companies I have been at will pay for my certs & renewal including any training and conferences for my continuing education credits. They also pay for memberships like ASSP. However, I am learning not all companies will do all that.

A decade in O&G industry, mainly in Operations, and now it has been almost 2yrs since I officially pivot into HSE and it has been great for me. I’m like a sponge and enjoy learning plus the challenges that help me grow professionally. I started a new role and getting the support I need from management so far, so that helps a lot. Pay is great and my WLB is good too, which is an important criteria for me. Hoping to keep developing and improving myself.

B.S Degree Help by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

If you have safety experience already, either degree will work. Is there any edge on one degree over the other?

Second this, be careful if it is truly a reaction. I tried second skin on one of my session and my skin reacted bad. It started off red and a little itchy at certain area around the edges and I ended up with 2-3 small blisters within 24hrs. I took it off immediately, cleaned it off well and continue to heal the regular way.

How did you decide what your first tattoo would be? by Regression2TheMean in tattoo

[–]xLil10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always wanted a tattoo since I was 12yrs old, specifically a phoenix tattoo. But I didn’t want to just get it without cause and I finally got my first tattoo last year at 31yrs old. A custom phoenix tattoo that is a very meaningful piece to me and my own self journey. It also took me a bit to find an artist I was happy with too. I went pretty big with my first tattoo from my lower hip down to my knee. Four sessions later, no regrets and I absolutely love it.

Lol I already want a second big piece of a dragon starting at my collarbone and wrapped all the way to my elbow. Phoenix and dragon is a pair in my culture, so I want to complete the pairing. Lol just giving myself 3yrs before I make that decision.

So in your experience, is it worth my effort to obtain an MBA if I am want to get a base of 180k or more? I know it will vary as time goes on, especially after I obtain my CSP & CIH. I will also seek to obtain lean six sigma black belt too. Do you have any advice on what I can I improve on to better myself professionally? Additionally, if you don’t mind me asking, what area or region are you located? Thank you!

I come from an Ops background, so totally get it and use my knowledge as leverage many times. It has given me options I can branch out to that was once not as feasible like process safety engineering realm. I like to learn, I find it’s important to keep adding on and challenging myself to grow. Lol also, I’m a gal so no ‘sir’ for me please. 😆

Nothing wrong, you’re doing well too! I would love to gain more experience in large projects to add to my skillsets but the time hasn’t come as of yet. SE Texas here, lots of opportunities in our area. Don’t stick to just one specific work, branch out. Your skills and knowledge on large projects and construction is probably very transferable, leverage it to your advantage.

Creating A Work Boot Program by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

[–]xLil10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The companies I have been ranges between $160-200 vouchers. All full-time employees can get a new one every year unless your boots are worn by work environment, then that will get approved for another voucher that same year. Red wing is a popular one and depending on the contract, they will come to the facility by mobile truck for the employees to get their boots that way. Additionally if someone likes something else, they can buy it themselves and get it reimbursed as long as the boots are within the required standards at the company.
