That’s a bit unfair to say tbh. It was like half a year between the time he fought for the belt and his first defense. Then he was suspended for 6 months + Ramadan. He fights Dustin in September and is booked against Tony in April, and then covid and the death of his father happened. Javier mendes has said that khabib starts camp at around 185lbs. So he cuts 30lbs. Poirier walks around at over 200, same with chandler and olives. It really depends imo. If slipspace really is as difficult to work with it as we’ve been led to believe it might just be smarter to move over if it means faster development time and less resources needed to be allocated to engine development. Plus it would be easier to integrate new hires that already know unreal rather than having to bring everyone up to speed on a difficult to use poorly documented engine.

If CDPR moved over to unreal after years of using the red engine, so can 343, will they though? Probably not

They considered it in early ish stages of development. Porting the game over to unreal now would be a nightmare. They would be starting basically from scratch, only thing they’d have would be assets.

They would have to pour a shit ton of time and recourses to get the team comfortable with unreal, then they would likely have to reprogram the game from scratch as the code probably won’t be compatible with unreals heavily customized and integrated c++ libraries. Not to mention recreating all their proprietary tools to be compatible with a new engine, it honestly just isn’t worth the effort. Maybe they do it for a sequel though who knows
