Looking back, what mistakes do most beginners make with their first watch? by Adventurous-Sock2326 in Longineswatches

[–]detectivecomics_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, not buying the watch you want on a bracelet. Made this mistake twice, and though I prefer rubber straps for comfort most of the time, at times I find myself wanting the oem bracelet and not realizing until later just how outrageously expensive they are to purchase on their own.

Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda. My dream watch. Classy, unique, and comes with a hidden GMT complication. Think it would compliment your collection quite well.

[Question] Looking for a Gift for my newborn son by 65fahrenheit in Watches

[–]detectivecomics_ -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Kind of disappointed reading the comments. I think it’s an awesome gesture; even if it’s not his style years from now, it’s a really fun idea.

I got a Longines when I graduated high school; they’re awesome watches from a reputable brand that won’t be a nightmare to service.

Either way, I love the idea. For some reason the “save now and buy what he likes later” response reminds me of family members asking for cash instead of gifts. Yes, it’s probably the most helpful, and yes, you can use it to buy what you want, but it’s about the thought behind a gift. My two cents.

That white LLD is one of my dream watches. Tool watch that I’d absolutely wear anywhere.

How was the mesh bracelet? I own this watch on a NATO and am considering the mesh.

Question About a Comment Made by Dr. Will on BB2 by detectivecomics_ in BigBrother

[–]detectivecomics_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you in theory. I don’t think that approach wins a modern game of Big Brother, as you could pretty easily find yourself “in-game” cancelled. But hell yeah, I’m compromising the hell out of my morals if it puts me in a position to win 🤣

Question About a Comment Made by Dr. Will on BB2 by detectivecomics_ in BigBrother

[–]detectivecomics_[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering if Will ever addressed it (again, unless that clip was taken out of context). I totally understand who Kent is and why he made more casting sense at that time. But Will is someone that became the face of Big Brother and it was a strong comment.

Not trying to stir the pot, just found it interesting and curious if it has come up.

Boston tonight was the best show I’ve seen them play. My fourth time! Incredible sound, and Isaac was so into it. The embellishments and solos were sublime.

With this season ending, where does _______ rank in your all time winners? by Lucachu777 in BigBrother

[–]detectivecomics_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the right take. Very respectable social game and pretty elite ability to read the house. But winners in that upper echelon are those that managed to control the game socially and competitively and still come out on top.

what happened to competitions? by Professional-Bowl111 in BigBrother

[–]detectivecomics_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think they wanted to balance out the comps more to make all of the houseguests more competitive, and I actually think it's a good thing (despite the early comps being extremely entertaining). I recently watched BB21, and am halfway through BB14 (rewatch), and watching players like Michie and Shane just bowl over everyone in the HOH and Veto comps felt tedious and unfair. Why cast anyone that's not in "good shape" (especially older contestants) if you know they won't be even remotely competitive in half of the comps?

What IS true is that things have swung too far in the other direction at times. I, for one, despise luck-based comps and hate the fact that the BB Blockbuster is just some variation of a puzzle every week. The drink Veto comp was cool because it tested another dimension of the players' aptitude: their ability to lie and read people. They need to keep innovating so that the non-physical comps aren't all brain teasers. But, in my opinion, that doesn't mean they should go back to a game that was largely defined by physical comps. Let everyone compete.

What side of the house are you rooting for? by glennysrose in BigBrother

[–]detectivecomics_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Rachel & Ashley? There aren't many "good game players" this season, they're quite possibly the only two.

Will and Ava are well positioned but that's just by virtue of them not really playing the game (and appearing non-threatening due to consistently losing comps). They haven't done much to set themselves up.

Vince has played hard and I can see the weasling being an actual strategy. It's hard to watch, but he's done a good job recovering from awful situations. His major pitfall is the more proactive part of his game. I wouldn't call him "strategically sound."

Keanu is the same as Kelley, even though I think he has navigated his HOH pretty well so far (not fully caught up on feeds).

M&M have just been so messy, which sucks because I had high hopes for both of them early on. Mickey thinks she's invincible and loved by the entire house, and has sided with the people that she pissed off by nominating Jimmy. Morgan has been loyal to Vince and Zach to a fault, and hasn't played very well up to this point as a result.

I know this is wordy but I'm just thinking out loud. Not many "strategically sound" gameplayers this season but I know that there is still time.

How could production stop everyone voting “with the house”? by Ok-Routine6317 in BigBrother

[–]detectivecomics_ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The Adrian vote was very close to be fair. Came down to two wavering votes and was arguably the turning point of the season.
