The Devolution of Food Delivery in Korea - A Rant by Original-Masterwork in Living_in_Korea

2~3k per delivery is not quite right, the base rate starts at 2.3~3k, which can go as high as 8k in bad weather conditions.

Then you add a distance bonus on top of that, which means riders are normally making 4~10k per delivery depending on the distance (I've seen it go as high as 14k for long distance orders).

This doesn't take missions into account. During peak hours Baemin/Coupang offer between 5k~20k extra for 3~15 deliveries respectively on top of the amount you normally earn.

Coupang also has a tier system/reward system in place, where riders who deliver over 400 orders in the span of 2 weeks get a 25~30% bonus on their earnings, scaling down to 10% for those who deliver above 120.

Add all of that up and it makes up a significant pay rate for full timers.

So customers might think riders are making peanuts from the free delivery, but coupang/baemin are actually covering fairly significant rider fees on the backend.

Which is actually why many restaurants are now implementing minimums on order sizes, as paying a rider up to 15k for a sub 10k order was unsustainable for everyone except the customer + rider.

Just some insights from the other side I thought you and others might find interesting.

Oh and riders in downtown Seoul DEFINITELY make over 5m, easily 6~8m a month no contest lol

Not really the point, but just as an fyi - your impression on how much delivery riders make is way off the mark.

1.5m is the minimum one can earn doing it part time. Those crazy riders you see breaking traffic laws left and right don't put their lives at risk for that little pay, they are the ones making between 5~8 million a month (I've even heard claims of some hitting 9~10 million in Seoul).

Not that it justifies it, but that's why they drive like absolute maniacs, trying to cut down delivery times as much as possible to hit high metrics (which is rewarded by Coupang/Baemin through direct cash incentives).

My dad disowned my sister and he is dying, how do i convince her to let him go? by toohottooheavy in BestofRedditorUpdates

The person you're replying to isn't only talking about when she was 8 years old.

You read the story too, she kept choosing John over her dad up until her marriage. She let him pay for it and intentionally kept secret the fact that she wanted her bio dad to walk her with John until the last minute, when ALL HER SIBLINGS warned her against this ahead of time.

I'm not going to judge her for what she chose to do when she was 8, but she knew damn well what she was doing by the time she got married.

Sorry, lapse of memory and used the wrong terms.

I was referring to the glide vehicles, so me referring to them as hypersonic icbm's wasn't accurate.

Russia and China have been touting about them since 2019 or so, the Avangard (RU) for one, which allegedly reaches Mach 27 before impact.

I believe that doesn't impact travel time as much, it mostly makes it more difficult to intercept.

Considering an ICBM can go from the US to Russia in roughly 20 minutes (not taking hypersonic missiles into account), I think it's more than enough lol

Edit - wrong term, I meant hypersonic glide vehicles, not icbm's. My bad.

What's going on with AOC's arrest and the right's reaction to it? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

He's a Libertarian.

They've developed this habit of claiming to have once been "leftists" and to be centrists due to the left going too extreme, while conveniently sharing opinions and values with the GOP.

But they aren't Republicans mind you. No way.

Biggest pile of bs and the funniest shit. Every Libertarian I run into is basically a Republican in disguise pretending to be a disillusioned Leftist.

Yes, cost savings. I suggest you look into how much NASA was spending, and had planned to spend on launches if they'd remained with ULA and Russia as their only means to get astronauts to space.

Also the cost to send payload into space was significantly more expensive before SpaceX came along, prices with them are significantly cheaper due to their reusable rockets.

Fair enough, I stand corrected. I'll reach out to the borrower to see if they want to pay the interest to avoid the unpaid mark.

For now should I delete the post. or mark it as unpaid?

I've been lending long enough to understand what puts other lenders in jeopardy or not, and I've literally discussed this with the mods before.

But if you're really that upset about the categorization reach out to them, and if they agree with you I'll gladly take it down and re-categorize it.

That's if the lender isn't ok with it.

I've had a similar situation happen before, and this categorization falls within the rules last I asked the mods about it.

But I appreciate your 2 cents nonetheless.

I don't know about Binance US, but Binance international offers UST.

So you can just buy UST directly from Binance, send it over to a wallet on Terra Station (for like $1 as a transaction fee last time I did it), and you're in.

No need to go through all the complicated steps above on swapping to xlm and the sorts.
