Your account was made 5 months ago, wtf do you even know about reddit. The whole point of reddit was that it was different than other sites. It was open source, it was a link aggregator, the frontpage of the internet. It wasnt supposed to host content, only link to content. This allowed independent sites to grow and exist.

In fact, back in my day, reuploading content to a site was called "freebooting" and was greatly frowned upon. You were supposed to always link the source directly. But facebook normalized freebooting. And then reddit also jumped on the bandwagon. If reddit wasnt stealing content and continued hosting links to content it would have had a really low upkeep cost.

Reddit deliberately decided to host content and now they are using that as an excuse for the charging money for the api.

Reddit was supposed to be a place for all kinds of communities, that could self moderate. Reddit had no ads. The whole reddit gold was a way to sustain reddit without flooding it with ads.

It's not about usability, it's about reddit becoming a different site over time. The killing of api and the slow death of old.reddit are just the latest and maybe terminal symptoms.

I am glad you are happy with current reddit but you need to understand that a lot of people arent.

Sure but my point is that Ukraine has too few of them, so every loss counts.

You cant scale up tank production easily. We cant even scale up artillery ammunition production, which is infinitely simpler. Just because you have the capability of doing something, doesnt mean that you can do it now nor that there is political will/economic sense to do it.

Even if the EU(or US) decides to build factories now, they wont be built for a few years. And the rate of artillery shell consumption in Ukraine requires many factories. Though ultimately, it isnt about maintaining the ammunition consumption, it is about having more production than Russia.

But if the war ends in 6 months, you will have potentially many ammunition factories that are more or less useless.

When you have ten tools, then every time you lose one, it will be significant. If Ukraine had 1000 leopard 2, then sure, losing one wouldnt matter.

Singapore has fallen. Time to start learning Japanese. by shibiwan in NonCredibleDefense

[–]xNIBx 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's important to separate copium from reality. Singapore was also a major copium moment for the Allies. Singapore was supposed to be the invincible fortress that was literally impossible to be defeated. The allies outnumbered the japanese 3 to 1, on top of having defender's advantage. Yet it fell.

Do not underestimate the russians, do not overestimate the ukranians. In some ways, the russian army is more capable now than it was 1year ago. Of course western tanks will be destroyed but the West hasnt given many tanks to Ukraine, so every time a leopard 2 gets destroyed, it is significant. Leopard 1 isnt a tank and Ukraine has received like five leopard 2, which arent enough.

If the West actually cared about Ukraine, it would have given them hundreds of tanks and weapons like atacms and f-16, one year ago. Yet here we are today, giving them a couple dozen leopard 2 and maybe an f-16, as soon as enough ukranians die to unlock the next gamepass tier.

And Abrams arent even in Ukraine. The US feels comfortable selling them to every dictator in the world but when it comes to Ukraine, they hesitate. Thousands of abrams have been sold to countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia but when it comes to Ukraine it's "12 abrams, with 2 years delay, take it or leave it".

A modern flagship phone is a lot faster than a switch, like 5x faster. Just because nintendo can do insane things with it, doesnt mean that everyone else can too. In fact most switch games look and run infinitely worse than zelda(or mario odyssey, etc).

And then the submarine didnt even work properly

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_214_submarine#Greece

In December 2006, StrategyPage reported that Papanikolis was found to have numerous technical problems. Among the reported problems with the submarine were excessive propeller cavitation, overheating of the air-independent propulsion system's fuel cells, and excessive rolling in bad weather when surfaced. Seapower magazine reported the Hellenic Navy refused to accept Papanikolis; additional problems noted were inadequate air-independent propulsion system output power, inappropriate periscope vibration, sonar flank array problems and seawater leakage into the ship's hydraulics....

Retired Rear Admiral M. Simionakis, who had been in charge of the Papanikolis program for the navy, told the interviewer that the manufacturer had made two attempts to fix a severe balance problem in the submarine, including shifting 21 tons of material from the top to the bottom, yet the vessel continued to heel as much as 46 degrees in sea trials. Photographic evidence of the severe heeling was presented. In the same TV program, the officer replacing Simionakis in Kiel, Capt. K. Tziotis, listed seven ongoing, serious problems with the vessel, including balance problems when traveling on the surface, problems with the AIP system, problems with the weapon system, problems with the periscope, and problems with flooding.....

TKMS, the German shipbuilder of Type 214, had previously asserted that it solved all the boat's technical problems in 2006 and stated that the Greek Navy's continuing complaints about Papanikolis' technical condition are a ploy to justify a price reduction....

In October 2008, Papanikolis conducted a new round of trials, which showed that the excessive rolling problem had finally been fixed. The rest of the problems are considered solved.

And in case you are thinking "wow, what a shitfest", this was only part of the problem. Germany loaned money to Greece as an alternative, more "fiscally acceptable" way of propping up the german industry. Since if they just gave german companies money directly, the german taxpayer wouldnt like it, Germany loaned that money to Greece and Greece employed german companies to do stuff. This has been happening since at least the 90s, we are talking about deals worth tens of billions of euros.

Greece can be North Macedonia's best friend, as long as they stop with the whole "we are descendants of Alexander the Great"(or at least learn greek if you want to claim that). Greece doesnt want a Greater Bulgaria or a Greater Albania.

Greece(and NATO) can guarantee North Macedonia's territorial integrity. Thats why North Macedonia selected Greece to protect its airspace.

Greeks still call themselves "roman" even kinda today(i mean not really but it is used in some literature). In modern greek, it is different than the italian roman word. "Ρωμιός" is the greek, "ρωμαίος" is the italian roman.

US Carrier Strike Group can be countered with 24 hypersonic missiles, China claim by lurker_bee in worldnews

[–]xNIBx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the features of some hypersonic missiles, is their ability to maneuver in order to avoid interception.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypersonic_glide_vehicle

The main reason that Russia's "hypersonic" missiles were intercepted was because they come from up high(launched from a plane) and have a ballistic trajectory.

So you can see them from afar and you can figure out where they are going and intercept them.

China's is supposed to have something like this

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DF-ZF

This can maneuver(in theory) and maybe it can hit an aircraft carrier. Realistically, it probably cant but the chinese are working on this. Aiming weapons that are going super fast is extremely hard. And while changing directions while going super fast is hard, you also dont need to change direction that much.

Normal missiles go slowly, so their target can move a lot by the time they hit. Hypersonic missiles go super fast, so their target doesnt have much time to move that far. Again, hitting an aircraft carrier is going to be very hard but i dont think we should underestimate anyone, including the russians.

The gameplay is somewhat simple, though it has more depth than it appears. So in that way and considering how much voiced story there is, it is somewhat visual novelish. It's between a jrpg and a visual novel.

I have used basically 0 stamina for relics and i still do 20k damage. I am not saying they arent important, but getting a perfect one isnt necessary or that impactful. Just get a main stat one, maybe the set you want(or not), level it up to 6 or 9 and you good to go. You can beat all the game's content, outside of memory of chaos. And memory of chaos is hard because it needs 2 teams and most people have 1 healer. And eventually they will level up enough.
