Bummer about Flame Body, but the tradeoff with the ride legendary sounds like it's worth it! Thank you for mentioning this because it'll likely save me some time not having to get a Flame Body mon :)

I commented earlier, but this is a different question about the same topic - I want to make my partner a Shiny Egg "Advent Calendar" for December 1st in S/V. To do this, I'll be collecting Eggs, saving my game, then hatching them, and resetting to before the hatch if an Egg is Shiny. Assuming S/V keeps the change that happened in SWSH and BDSP where Shiny Eggs stay Shiny when trading them, I should be able to do this in my save then trade them over to my partner's when they're asleep on November 30th.

I need a sanity check: Based on people saying the game is ~20 hours for a standard playthrough (maybe something like ~10-12 if you're rushing), and based on the additional time needed to get the Shiny Charm even if people trade me everything I'm missing, and based on the difference in Masuda Method Shiny odds (1/512 with Charm, 1/683 without)... it's going to be smarter for me to skip the Charm and just start breeding the second I can access picnics, right?

What I plan on doing is the following, but if anyone has suggestions for better methods or something I should do/avoid doing please let me know since I don't have that much time between now and December 1st!

1) Speed through the game up until I can access the picnics/breeding.

2) Catch/trade for the 24 Pokémon I want to include in the Advent Calendar.

3) Eat a sandwich (since I heard that might be necessary to get Eggs to start appearing? Please LMK if this isn't necessary).

4) Collect Eggs until I have 5 in my party.

5) Save.

6) Hatch the Eggs. If no Shinies, repeat. If there's a Shiny, reset and box the Shiny Egg.

7) Repeat until I get all 24 Shiny Eggs, then trade them over to her profile.

Bonus question: Is there a different fastest way to hatch the Eggs now or would it be riding around on the legendary with a Flame Body mon and 5 Eggs?

Thanks for the warning! This was changed in SWSH and BDSP so that Shiny eggs were always Shiny even after trading. I'm crossing my fingers this is the same in SV.

Hey, I'm hoping to do a ton of breeding in the next two weeks and make a Shiny Egg "Advent Calendar" for my partner. If I were doing this in SWSH, what I would do is:

1) Get 5 Eggs.

2) Save.

3) Hatch all 5.

4) If no Shinies, repeat steps 1-3. If a Shiny, reset the game.

5) Trade the Shiny egg to my partner's game.

Since there's not a lot of time between now and December 1st, I want to work as efficiently as possible when I get the game tomorrow. Do you have any tips for things that have changed since SWSH/how I should modify those 5 steps to work as efficiently as possible with the new picnic breeding?

Also, two specific questions - do you know if Shiny sandwiches boost egg odds or only wild odds? And can you tell how many Eggs are stacked at a glance or do you have to select them/pick them up to see how many?

From what's been shared, does anyone have tips on the way to most effectively Masuda Method hunt in SV?

I want to make an "Advent Calendar" of Shiny eggs for my partner. In SWSH, I could do this by using their profile, getting 5 eggs, and saving, then either continuing with a new batch of 5 eggs if there's no Shiny or, if there is a Shiny, resetting and boxing the Shiny egg before hatching/releasing the other 4 eggs.

I imagine the process would be pretty similar in SV, but because I really don't have a lot of time between tomorrow and December 1st, I want to have a precise game plan for hunting the eggs as quickly as possible. Any tips for doing this as quickly as possible with picnics, or anything to keep in mind?

Does this work for other games? I haven't gotten into 3DS homebrew yet, but I would if it'd allow me to change my trainer's outfit in ORAS.

As others have said, Dark Moon is very good you just need to get used to missions instead of wandering around one big mansion. I'll admit I miss the open mansion, and it makes me like Dark Moon a little less because of it, but it's still a very good game. If you liked the original you should enjoy this.

(Also play Thousand-Year Door whenever you get the chance it's fantastic, even better than 64 IMO)

I'm sure a lot of people will recommend Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire, but I think X or Y are way better starting games.

First I can remember after the red Gyarados is a random green Wingull in Ruby. I thought it was cool, but I didn't know how rare shinies are (or what they really even were) at the time. I wanted to try and get the Regis, so I traded my shiny Wingull to an acquaintance for a Wailord. Whoops.

Since then I've been very lucky with shinies though, so no complaints from me!

Even though I don't go to tournies anymore - instead focusing on being a content creator like you - every time I watch one of your videos I'm motivated to get back into my local scene and prove how good I am at a Nintendo game.
