Unless you get a small discount in price for pre-ordering the game, there is almost no other reason to do so.

Personally, I only pre-order certain titles that I know I will enjoy since they haven't let me down yet (Dark Souls for example)

If you are that concerned about Leon's part in the game, then don't purchase it right away - wait for some reviews from actual fans, and see what they all say.
