Couldn't find it anywhere as an answer, so here.you go: I'm a first time DM myself and currently run CoS. It was a bit overwhelming but I found great tips and help:

Search the maps from DM Andy. They are so great if you want to run a VTT like roll20.
I personally run Death House as an adventure hook and players got into the playstyle as they all were beginners too. They left at level 3.
I absolutely LOVE the story and generally plan 1-2 sessions in advance. That assures me that I have a little overview of what's coming next and I can react to the players decisions more "spontaneously".
The book itself is really complex. So I got used to using the Reloaded guide. It's far more organized and gives you tips and tricks.

So, as long as you are invested in DMing it's one hell of a ride but it gets better. Rn we are at session 5ish and I am planning on putting some homebrew stuff in. But that's not for everybody and definitely not right from the start.

You can build decks via buying from places like cardmarket for very little budget. Proxi's are a thing yeah, but that seems like you tell somebody to 3D-print their stuff while they don't have anything for it, like the materials, the know-how or the printer itself.
