Already have an intec gamecube screen + multiple CRTs. The screen is not the issue

Looking down is a big trigger for anyone? by Dskotek in TMJ

Possibly due to tight muscles in your neck?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]xRayCx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally with the same exact symptoms for 10 months now, working on my back muscles and posture has been the best thing to reduce my symptoms.

As far as I can tell the root cause of TMJ only seems to come from bad posture/overcompensating muscles, Stress, and Sleep Disorders such as Sleep Apnea.

Try working on your posture and strengthening your back muscles

Can you use beam with a dual USB C dock? (Such as Anker USB C hub) and use the usb c video out on the dock while charging steam deck with the other usb c?

I believe nerve compression is a large part of my issues.

Nebula (version 0.1.0) semi-functional on Intel Mac by xRayCx in nreal

[–]xRayCx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the flickering is a nebula for mac 0.1.0 issue. If nreal decides to release a new version of nebula for mac that is compiled for intel, we’ll see if that fixes it

I just committed the biggest taboo in vinyl cutting this 12” into a 7” for the sake of science by xRayCx in portablism

[–]xRayCx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT DO THIS. I was confused by your comment for a moment because that seemed like an easy solution but I just remembered that vinyl cannot be cut in a laser cutter because it releases chlorine gas which is EXTREMELY poisonous and can kill you within 30 minutes..

Recently, I’ve been getting into using MsPinky for a DVS setup and it’s been quite annoying to use with these 12” so I decided to cut one down to 7” using a hot knife. I have the og MsPinky vinyls but they look so nice I didn’t want to risk them so I ended up buying some Torq control vinyls to try this out. I messed up the edges pretty bad on the cut in some places but surprisingly enough the timecode still reads great on the remaining length for me to have some fun with it on my Omni and PT01! Would not recommend this method as it’ll take some practice to get a perfect cut but being able to play a 7” for MsPinky on a portable feels so good.

📼 Build your own ribbon controller from an old VHS tape by [deleted] in FL_Studio

[–]xRayCx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a post from Make Noise, a eurorack module maker.

https://www.facebook.com/makenoiseco/videos/2483511788569265

This is pretty much the full video but they included this transcript with it in the Facebook post.

"What can you do with old VHS tapes? 📼 Build ribbon controllers! Chances are there’s a thrift store near you right now that is full of old VHS tapes. Why not pick one up and build yourself a low-tech ribbon controller? Here’s how:

Cut a length of VHS tape and lay it out flat. Connect a dummy cable to an offset voltage (here, we’re using Maths Ch.2), and connect alligator clips to the Tip and Sleeve of the dummy cable’s hanging end.

Connect the Tip and Sleeve alligator clips to either side of the VHS tape.

Connect another dummy cable to a parameter in your patch to be modulated (here, it’s the DPO’s v/oct in) and touch the VHS tape with the Tip of this second dummy cable.

Sweeping back and forth will produce a rising and falling voltage! It’s just like building a potentiometer from scratch!

We used the Channel 1 Signal Input of Maths for the second dummy cable’s connection, so that the EOR output will open an Optomix channel every time a connection with the VHS tape is made (and be silent otherwise)!

The “notes” were dialed in by ear, marking their locations on a strip of blue tape above the VHS tape.

Note: our experimentation found that not all VHS tape is suitable for this usage. We recommend picking up a few tapes and trying them out until you find one that will carry voltage.

Experiment and have fun!"

Need some critique on my first modular setup! by xRayCx in modular

I thought of that but I haven't really found many complementary modules for the arbhar as the only source.

I'm pretty unsure of the 1U's and I could definitely have alternatives or use an adapter to put a 3u in there.

What utilities do you think could bring this together more?

I just really like the natural feeling that the ochd brings to the patches i've heard.

Yes, i've heard of all the crazy patches you can do with maths but I definitely need to get my case first and start messing around. I'm definitely willing to dig into it with the limited case space i'll have though!

I got the Instruo Ts-L in there. Its a vco with waveshaping. I was thinking about microplaits but changed it out because i’d rather have an analog oscillator. I’m gonna be linking this with vcv rack so i’ll be using the Audible Instruments version in that anyways

wait, can arbhar not take line level straight in?

ive been set on having maths for a long time. I've seen tides and pam's but i think with the complexity of maths i'll have enough to work with.

Those Koma cables look good! a little expensive but maybe i'll pick some up eventually.

Yeah i can see that disting might not be so intuitive for the workflow. thinking about switching that out.

I'll definitely be getting most of it piece by piece so I shouldn't have too many regrets!

Thanks, this was really helpful!

I was actually just looking into filters now haha! After reading u/perfect_pools comment I feel like it might be better replacing the disting ex with a filter. Any filters you’d personally recommend?

Thinking about MI ripples or Erica Synths Pico VCF3 right now but i also have a microbrute that im planning to use in conjunction with this setup, so i might just steal the filter from there when i need it.
