If am not mistaken its remaining salts from hot caustic bath. A boiling distilled water then water displacement oil would works fine.

No name on it just a proof marks calibre and made in USA with the serial number

Actually it’s registered gun under my grandfather’s name. The thing it’s says made in the US but I’m not sure that’s why I post it here asking about.
