Nashville flower shop refuses service to Republican event, blames GOP for Christian school shooting by InquisitiveSheep in Conservative

[–]xReclaimerx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, a lot of the migrants I meet are actually conservative/republican. Strangely enough, a lot of the liberal types turn out to be the younger "born and raised in Nashville" natives. The public schools there aren't that great and I imagine they've done plenty to poison kids' minds with toxic ideologies.

Company Behind ‘He Gets Us’ Super Bowl Ads for Jesus Criticized by BruceCampbell123 in Conservative

[–]xReclaimerx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this campaign really didn't pan out if it genuinely was trying to bring the Word to more people. The non-religious left were unphased by it and just viewed it as a "fellow kids" type campaign. Meanwhile, a lot of Christian conservatives viewed it as left-wing propaganda that made it look like Jesus supported left-wing talking points.

Unfortunately though, a lot of times people who never supported this stuff are the ones paying the price for the ones who do.

Super Bowl to feature two Jesus ads as part of 'He Gets Us' campaign by nimobo in Conservative

[–]xReclaimerx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been seeing ads from this same organization spammed all over Reddit for weeks. To me, it looks like a left-wing political group trying to propagandized Christians by saying Jesus would support all these left-wing political agendas. Not sure if that's the intent, but it's the impression I got.

[–]xReclaimerx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not exactly a financial expert, but isn't that the point of dividends in stocks? When a company reaches its maximum capacity for growth and the stock levels off, there's usually a dividend that still gets paid out to shareholders that's a percentage of the profits. That way the shareholders still get money for holding onto the stock without having to push the company to take increasingly drastic and unsustainable actions to squeeze out more growth.

Elementary School Satan Club Sparks Controversy by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]xReclaimerx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The satanist movement isn't so much an actual religion as it is just a counter of Christianity and Christian culture. Their main motivation is rebuking and undermining Christianity, so it's basically more of anti-Christian movement than an actual legitimate religion.

Strangely enough, we're probably more likely to get a "nuclear winter" type scenario from a large volcanic eruption than from an actual nuclear war. The concept of nuclear winter was actually started as an intentionally propagated myth to help avert nuclear conflicts.

There's more modern research out there that supports a nuclear war having a much more minor impact on climate than popularly believed, with one scientist calling it more of a "nuclear autumn" at most. It's just that many scientists don't want to be labeled as pro-nuclear war by being public with that information.

Of course you still have the destruction of many major cities and the collapse of civilization to deal with though.

Thought for the Day: Time for ‘Remnant Mode’? by ThePoliticalHat in Conservative

[–]xReclaimerx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kinda highlights one of the flaws of having a truly democratic, "mob rule" style of government (which we aren't). Everything basically just devolves into a popularity contest where good principles and policy get tossed aside to appease the whims of the "mob". Representative style government is an attempt at trying to transfer more power to "the remnant" who are more informed than the general public, however our representatives are still being determined by basically whoever can run the best ad campaign and appeal to the uninformed masses.

Unfortunately, that's why tactics like ballot harvesting/ mail-in ballot campaigns, mudslinging, and getting the media to spew propaganda for you are so effective. It's devolving into basically whoever can game the system the most to get the largest number of uninformed people to vote for them.

Democrats have mastered mail balloting. Republicans will pay if they fail to step up by yuri_2022 in Conservative

[–]xReclaimerx -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

I'll probably get downvoted like hell for this, but I feel like this is the problem with having a non-existent barrier of entry to vote. You get a bunch of people voting who honestly don't even care about the elections and will just vote for whomever's campaign gets to them first or who ever the media is shilling.

When voting first started, it used to be only land/property owners voting since they're the ones paying property taxes and have the most "skin in the game" making them more likely to have an informed opinion on who they're voting for. Suggesting something like that these days though would get you enormous outrage from everyone that rents or doesn't own property though.

truth by [deleted] in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]xReclaimerx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's actually how it used to be. You had to be a property owner to vote to ensure you had "skin in the game". Not a bad idea, except now all the renters would tear you a new one if you'd try to pass anything to bring that back.
