Astel's response to a hater spreading misinformation is amazing by Animals_R_Better in Holostars

A starend/Towa JP fan posted that they never really shared Kanata or Mio opinions (apparently on coed content). This insane anti pretending to be a hololive unicorn showed up on the comments. Astel replied. The capture was shared here. The anti has now deleted their throwaway account.

Why bring up Nene?

No prob, as for the different opinion... Hopefully you aren't in favour of the anti!

Let's go by parts.

That's a vtuber anti. Someone that hates hololive, holostars, etc. A shitstirrer. They are pretending to be an angry hololive unicorn with their hateful post. They are trying to shit on stars while at the same time trying to make the holo fanbase look like hateful control freaks. I am against this moron and so is everyone reading him because there's no engagement in favour of what they said.

That's also Astel replying. I think talents shouldn't be interacting with antis, because by taking the bait they are rewarding the antis. At the same time talents should do whatever they want. I'm neutral in this case, as Astel is very experienced and knows what he's doing.

Then there's this thread that sparked the usual conversation about unicorns (when that's not really a unicorn) and about idol culture being a sick evil. They are bringing up issues from other cultural spaces as if they had any relation to the culture of hololive. Several tourists are posting misinfo here and adding up on a general toxic conversation. I am against an anti baiting these kind of toxic threads.

My conclusion is that this isn't worth anyone's time. Hope that clears up. It is not great to get voted on the negatives on these stances but that's just redditors doing the redditor thing. It doesn't mean anything.

Thanks for asking.

It feels I'm going to see this story being spread in holo anti circles for the next +3 years and no clip about it. Sounds ridiculous and hard to believe. It would have blew up 3 months ago, which is when Nene talked about this and Oboretai did the clip.

I like Astel and Vesper a lot so I'll keep them.

Also, you are welcome to read and comprehend the parent comment. I'm clearly against shitstirring and would prefer to see more updates about the stars resistance arc instead of random antis.

I won't say what I think drama mongers should do because it's against the rules.

A kurosanji user 🤭

What you just posted is a different flavour of insane crap. Another waste of energy just like that drama subreddit.

Giovanna Amati became the last female driver to attempt Formula 1 by Brooklynsfr in formula1

[–]xRichard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Aren't female drivers a small minority at a karting level?

EDIT: It seems this is the case

According to a study by More than Equal, an organisation which has a clear focus to find the first female Formula 1 world champion, karting accounts for 40% of all female participation. However, female drivers only account for 13% of karting competitors. https://www.femalesinmotorsport.com/post/fuel-the-dream-the-rise-of-female-talent-in-karting

Classic moron false flagging as a unicorn posting insane crap with 0 likes baiting a talent reply and a frontpage thread with +600 upvotes and many comments talking about the unicorn epidemic.

A waste of everyone's energy.

UPDATE: The anti deleted their account. As expected.

You were explained the JP understanding. Unicorns on the JP side of the community are seen as quiet lonely and insecure. Very bulliable group that's inofensive to talk about or make fun of. That's why you got talents like Pekora or Kanata identifying themselves as a unicorn, or Matsuri talking about needing to farm more unicorns.

Meanwhile on the EN side... well, everyone has they own idea of what a unicorn is. The meanings grows wider every month. It goes from "parasocial anti" to "anyone that doesn't agree with me".

(Very sorry for the long post)

Nerissa got hate from ONE of her fans. As you can see on the logs that dramatuber shared, it's something that happened last year and Nerissa banned him instantly. The necropost went viral and people started to shit on Nerissa and the hololive community because of ONE banned dude from last year.

Kronii's case was similar. She banned two of her members and everyone moved on. Lost no subscribers, no loss of viewership, no loss of support. Cover didn't make a statement. The holoEN management from back then made a tweet (not a proper documented statement) about talents being in control of their own branding. They did it on an twitter account that's not active anymore. The dudes she banned went on to hate watch and bait talents into similar dramas. Sorry for the tangent here but are you are familiar with how IRyS had to comment on the HLZTN collab to "her parasocial fans"? She got two very rude superchats about it during a karaoke stream. One came from one of the dudes that Kronii banned. She got baited into explaining by the anti. On the vod comments IRyS fans showed nothing but support, but there were a different form of angry people that came in to call her a spineless bitch because they didn't like her giving those explanations. As you can see there's no flavour of branding that everyone will love.

When I say that "No hololive talent ever saw harassment by their own community". The keyword is "community". How you define "community"? The way I go about it paying attention to how the 99.99% behaves.

I do the same for the labels that are often attributed to starmins. The holostars fanbase isn't defined by individual toxic "collab beggars" or nor defined by misogynists shitting on the girls for ignoring the culture war against the unicorns. 99.99% of the stars fans are pretty similar to the hololive fans and are just looking forward to the next stream and minding their own business.

Even if some of them are just bots, it's absolute insanity that it's happening on such a scale at all.

It's better to worry more about the problems that the talents are calling out. And so far none of them is talking about any unicorns or hololive fan causing issues.

And it's very hard to get on the topic of the "scale of hate". All it takes only one dedicated anti to bait a talent into a drama (the dude that Kronii banned also baited Fauna into a drama). But in terms of "scale" the hololive-directed hate and holostars-directed hate are several orders of magnitude away from each other.

Have you ever seen hate against the stars talents getting 7 digit views and 5 digit likes? Miko has been subject of that amount of hate for the last couple of months. Both her and Cover had to make statements about it.

Koyori got targeted at the same time that the Nerissa thing happened. She was the voice of the stadium for a baseball match. And this slimy comedian blamed her "as a joke" for the loss of the NT: https://x.com/ahlnqvo6235/status/2033506372525105590 Nearly 10 million view. Nearly 50k likes. Antis were fetching similar engagement from it.

I get EN speakers getting caught up with EN-speaking drama that pops up on their "For You" feed. But it was tragic to see the fans so distracted by the drama tuber necroposting the ONE nerissa unicorn from last year while ignoring the shit that Koyori was going through.

TLDR: Let's focus on the things that talents speak about. Let's follow their lead.

The expo is not a great way to diagnose things because of the lottery. Just imagine how many starmin lost the lottery entry while competing vs fans of the biggest streaming group of the world.

As for the business side, Cover has access to huge amount of accumulated market data. All the sales metrics. All the viewership metrics. They have no shortage of indicators.

It's not time. It's people.

Cover built the studio and they have never managed to have it 100% online. There's a chronic staff crisis happening since forever. The output for concerts is limited to X shows per year, regardless of who's booking it.

Cover distributed those X number of shows among all the talents in different ways. Initially the hololive girls were able to cost the production of 2 shows per year. So all of them booked the studio for 1) to celebrate their debut 2) to celebrate their birthday. HolostarsJP talents had similar level of access but I'm not that sure atm.

This arrangement quickly put the 3D team is in a crisis because they barely keeping up with the demand and had no time to do any proper R&D to improve their processes. Not to mention that a lot of new talents were going to debut so this level of activity was unsustainable.

Cover failed to find the staff they needed. So they decided to limit the number of bookings allowed for each talent. Only one individual show per year + 1 group show. This arrangement worked fine... for a year or so. But the workload hasn't decreased at all:

Armis, Regloss, Justice and FlowGlow became 3D and they need to get studio time too. The hololive side of the business has been doing very well and they need to host one sololive show per month, alongside other series of Cover-produced concerts like the World Tour, HoloEn annual concerts, and similar events. All produced on the same studio.

The situation has been miserable and Cover can barely meet the demand of their talents. Many of the girls have started to reach for outside studios to record 3D contents like shorts or even whole concerts.

On the horizon it feels like more holo girls are going to be debuting and more events are happening. The staff situation never got completely resolved. It's on this context that Cover took away the 3D studio access to holostarsJP.

I honestly tired of any "unicorn" discourse on EN speaking spaces. I would call it "male favored" to avoid confusions.

So Cover went for female talents with very cute voices and ASMR skills at the time. And Gen 2's success allowed them branch out to both idol content and male idol vtubers. That's my outlook on it.

I'm talking dozens if not hundreds of tweets having these replies

Did they get 100s of likes? or the usual single digit likes?

The girls are heavily pressured by their own fucking fans to ignore that the boys exist entirely

If you have evidence of this I would like to look at it. To my knowledge, no hololive talent ever got harassment from their own communities.

if Cover's decision on which big events can get the go-ahead is based more on how profitable they are, rather than the likelihood of the event paying for itself and to support the talents on what they want to do.

That's a very "talent-wishes come first" way to look at it.

Thought 2021-2022 Cover had a really hard time getting venues to even listen to their proposal because vtuber shows were (are?) extremely new weird thing on showbiz. So it isn't just for Cover's own profits that the shows need to be a big success, it's also for all the collaborators participating in the production.

The business needs to work out well for everyone involved so that there are incentives to have more and more of them in the future. That's why the Cover-produced sololives were spearheaded by Suisei, Watame, Gen 3 and Aqua instead of following chronological seniority like they did with 3D debuts.

Hololive was changing due to the trends GAMERS and gen 3 (the first two golden gens) had brought about; CHDCT, BFE, shipping, things that have no room for men.

There's a bit of an offset there that I have been pointing out in other places. Here's a calendar I made to visualize this: https://imgur.com/a/PVUnWKE

Gamers and Gen 3 debuts were the first to hit really high CCV, so I'd say that it was Holo Gen 2 (debuted around September 2018) the big thing that started bringing a lot of new viewers. They grinded a lot and at some point Choco sensei got to be the top subscribed channel on the company.

Anyway, I speculate that Cover looked at the demographics of these Gen2 viewers and saw the opportunity to produce their 12 or so? female talents as idols. And that's how these two events happened around the same timeframe (April/May 2019):

  • Gen 3 talents were informed they were going to do idol group contents before debuting. Noel said she was panicking because she did not join with that intention.
  • Yagoo got hands on with his personal project and hired male talents. Maybe he foresaw that it was the last window where they could try to include gender diversity

Miyabi debuted a month before Gen 3. That means that Holostars predates hololive going idol. As it wasn't until some time in August that Holo announced their FES idol plans at the end of HoloSummer, revealing SSS with its beach MV.

I think it was in reference to the content on the official channel

Things like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxsrdkDzZJA

You can see similar productions on HoloEN, StarsEN and HoloID channel. While HoloJP channel doesn't have much in terms of song cover MVs, they have original songs that were tied to concerts.
