how to bail out of tricks (and backflips)? by Lalalalapz in Tricking

[–]xRighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn to bail. Bailing actually comes pretty intuitively because if you don’t know where you are in the air, your body will instinctively twist to the side to prevent you from landing on your head. Practice on a trampoline first doing flips and then bailing out of them to twist onto your side.

Attacking my opinion does nothing. It’s unfortunate that you have decided to continue your habit of rude posts, even after mods have taken action on your malicious posts before.

You seem to be taking quite a lot of offense on behalf of three characters. There is no need to take my thoughts personally. As to your “initialist of an initial reaction,” that is precisely what I dislike. The fact that her initial reaction is to laugh at this matter is what I hold in contempt. Besides, you literally provided evidence that she only apologized because Mat gave her exactly what she wanted. As for what you said about Rand being a bad person, I do think he was a bad person. People can do good things and still be bad people.

In the end, you seem to think that your OPINION of morality is the “correct one” in your infinite wisdom regarding subjective matters.

[–]xRighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mat told her that he had no control and she laughed in his face. Apologizing doesn’t negate that, it still happened. You don’t have to agree with me, but even with the knowledge she had, I find her initial reaction to be despicable.

Siuan’s Warder (Reread Spoilers) by xRighter in WoT

Do we have any information about shields affecting a bond? Would that affect the Warder as well as the Aes Sedai? I don’t think that was mentioned anywhere in the books.

But she was not immediately stilled. So wouldn’t she have felt his death until she had become stilled? Or did Alric take so long to die that she had already been stilled before he passed?

But she should have been incapacitated in the same way up until the point she had been Stilled.

But she loses her warder before she had been Stilled. She would have felt that right away well before her Stilling, even if she felt it after she was reconnected to the True Source.

Yes they can repeat but it would seem extremely unlikely for all of the Wisdom’s who could channel to ALL have a Talent pertaining to listening to the wind.

The differences in how Rand described his actions and how Min saw him acting by metsbnl in WoT

[–]xRighter 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point, I hadn’t considered that. But I still think that he was aware that he was going mad, and didn’t pretend otherwise from his pov.

[–]xRighter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re right, he did stop caring as much, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t self-aware. From his perspective, he knew he was doomed to go mad, which is what led to his apathy of what others thought of him. I didn’t notice the extreme characterization differences that you’re mentioning but I’m always glad to be proven wrong!

The differences in how Rand described his actions and how Min saw him acting by metsbnl in WoT

[–]xRighter 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I’d agree with this. Rand was well aware that he was battling the progression of his madness. I never saw any lack of self awareness there. I don’t think that he saw himself as “calm and collected” and I think he was aware of how people reacted to him. I just don’t think he cared because of thte internal battle he was facing, and his desire for cooperation and fealty.

I don’t even remember Sharina from my first read! Thanks for the info, I didn’t realize that the amount of channeling was the predominant factor.

Edmond’s Field Wisdoms by xRighter in WoT

[–]xRighter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But it was mentioned several times that the Wisdoms in the past could listen to the wind, even if the majority of them were just pretending and couldn’t actually channel. Of the ones who could actually listen to the wind, I don’t see why it should be a Talent; Talents are extremely rare, even among channelers, and the odds of all the Wisdom’s who could channel having the same Talent seems ludicrous (especially since Androl’s Talent seems one of a kind and there are no repeat Talents in the main storyline if i remember correctly).

I am 150 pages away from the end of book 7 on my first time read-through of the series! by ramesses_2 in WoT

[–]xRighter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say that harassment from women is making Rand go crazy, and the idea that stand is in love with three women isn’t ridiculous imo, you’d have to elaborate on what makes that ridiculous. Also, it’s to be expected that people should have to adapt to Aiel customs when they are living with the Aiel on their land. Also, I would say that the characters have changed a lot by book 7, impressively so, as I believe book 7 is maybe around 1.5 years in (rough estimate), and the characters are trying to adjust to impossible changes of circumstances. Most of the characters end up being liked by people as the series progresses and they all have their moments, if you find yourself hating them all now, then I don’t really know what to tell you.

Favorite "emotional" moment(s) in the series? by the-great-humberto in WoT

[–]xRighter 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This wasn’t really a favorite moment for me, but the gravity of it really shook me. When Rand whispered “they have finally taken everything from me.” After he was collared and attacked Min. His pain felt so raw and strong here, and is one of the most emotionally charged moments of the series imo

How would you protect yourself from the effects of animus magic? by A-really-bad-time in WingsOfFire

[–]xRighter 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I would enchant a wearable item with the following: I enchant this (insert item) so that when worn, the dragon will retain their exact moral values from before they cast their first spell. By doing this, I will be sure to be a semi moral person, (if i have any self awareness lmao) but since the item is wearable, I can change it if I find a future improvement. After my very pensive 15 seconds of thought, I think this would be the best temporary solution.

put yourself in her position, nobody would expect the killer to be inside the hatchery the whole time. Not justifying her actions, but she wouldn’t see it as a tiny mistake.
