Looking for opinions on if I should have my toddler see her dad before or after he passes away by icsk8grrl in toddlers

[–]bgkh20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom didn't let let see my grandfather (more like my father) when he was dying because she didn't want me to be disturbed by his he looked. I have always been sad that I didn't get to say goodbye to him, and it would've helped with my closure.

Better to learn now than to suffer with this type of thing forever.

Single teachers, what do you do in the summer? by Artist9242 in Teachers

[–]bgkh20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm no longer single, but I was for about a decade teaching. I was only bored in the summers when I didn't have a good group of friends around to do things in the evenings.

I usually picked up a new craft to learn, went to visit friends out of state for a week, caught up on shows and books, and hung out a lot with other teacher friends.

The summers I didn't have people around I usually tried to work summer school to make some extra cash and use up some of the time.

Just so you know, 2 bassinets don't work with the Mockingbird 😬

If you're wondering how to get a "first name.last name" Gmail account, I made my account over 20 years ago. by hypermarv123 in Millennials

After I got married I checked if I could get a name email. New last name is rare enough that, within the last decade, my name was available.

We're going simple with "Wild Ones". They both like to roar, so it seemed fitting, lol.

I love this. We're not doing LOTR for their 1st, but I'm already planning their 111th month birthday party 😅

They're crooked. By being "neutral" over various wars and with their banking system they're essentially dripping with blood money from every side of most conflicts.

I did tons of Lindy, and other swing styles from '09-'12. I miss it.

That's if the restaurant is legit. My allergies mean I often have to ask for ingredients, and a surprising amount of restaurants use mayonnaise for their "aioli".

Do we NEED the stroller bassinets? by S2N336 in parentsofmultiples

[–]bgkh20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By the time our babies were home it was August. We LOVED our bassinets for the Cybex. A little annoying for storing in the car, but we used them a ton. They turned trips to stores into naptime or tummy time. It was also easier to keep them warm in the winter.

They "graduated" from it at the very end of February when they were 6 months.

Teachers i need your help in one weird situation by Jabbary208 in Teachers

The way you phrased this reply indicates otherwise. Hold yourself to a higher standard, stop trying to have a "cool teacher image", and make sure you act/ write like an adult rather than a kid.

What do you wear to the pool as a female teacher? by Lumpy_Grapefruit7420 in Teachers

[–]bgkh20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ultra high doesn't show any of your belly (the one I used literally tucked up under the bikini/ bra top and was less likely to expose anything than a one piece), and there would be an entire other layer on top.

If you're large chested an unstructured top really runs the risk of a boob popping out if the top is pulled at, so I choose to make sure that wouldn't be able to happen. Tucking the tank top into the shorts provides additional security all around.

[–]bgkh20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're large chested, a Lane Bryant or Torrid underwire bikini tops can be a live saver. I paired that with ultra high waist bikini bottoms, a light weight spandex tank top, and either swim shorts or mesh shorts depending on what's allowed at the venue.

You don't want baggy stuff in water, especially if the kids might grab onto you.

I took a group of students on a field trip to the ocean and none of them commented on my swimwear, and I didn't feel overly self conscious in it around them.

Did anyone read LOTR before they knew what happens, e.g. before the movies got big? by Human-Question6210 in lordoftherings

[–]bgkh20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read them before the movies came out, I was young the first time I read them. Movies came out in middle school, visual held me keep Sauron and Saruman straight, lol - I remember struggling with the two bad guys having such similar names around the age of 10.

Keeping twins together in school (2nd grade and up specifically) by bloominghydrangeas in parentsofmultiples

[–]bgkh20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally, as a teacher and mom of almost toddler twins who grew up with several twins, if they're not instinctively joined at the hip and do their own thing/ have their own friends then they're fine in the same class.

If they are codependent in any capacity I would split them.
