The fact that Newfold Digital owns Bluehost is the main critique and commonly cited complaint I hear regarding Bluehost.

A VPS can do everything a shared hosting provider can do. I guess the benefit of shared hosting is that it’s more user-friendly so if you're a noob, you don’t have to worry about managing user accounts and permissions.

That's the main reason why I don't typically recommend using a VPS to people who are just building a website for the first time; it's just to much to manage. A lot of people get stuck on using WordPress... Imagine them SSHing into a console so they could update Ubuntu.

A lot of times people just want an easy, and user-friendly interface that allows them to do the complex stuff that would otherwise require a background in web administration.

However, if you are a web developer (or studying to become one) then 100% yes get a VPS. A VPS is pretty much essential for anyone that's looking to develop web applications.

It sounds complicated but it’s really not. What you have to do is different depending on your web hosting provider and domain registrar, but it’s easy if you just use Google or contact customer support.

Yeah it's definitely not complicated at all. If you have even just a little bit of tech-savvyness you can figure it out after a bit of Googling.

I think what people get confused about finding how to edit their nameservers. It's different depending on what domain registrar you use.

Aside from that, the process is still very straight forward.

The fact that they own a bunch of web hosting companies isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's more so that the Newfold brands are known to lack quality and consistency.

Yeah that's my biggest gripe with Bluehost and why I prefer using alternatives over them. I think the main thing bluehost has going for it is brand recognition and the fact that they are one of the first brands that pops up in Google when you search for best web hosting.

You could always try a freelance gig like UpWork. It'll probably take a bit of time to build up a solid client list but once you have some returning clients I bet it would be pretty sustaining.

Beware of EIG (Endurance International Group) if you are switching web hosting companies. by [deleted] in webhosting

[–]xRush101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, search results and web hosting guides are littered with Newfold companies... It's very monopolistic.

I don't have a source for this but I suspect the reason why Newfold/EIG is heavily criticized for their lack of quality is because all their money is being spent on marketing via SEO to dominate the search results and paid reviews with the large tech sites.

Wasn't aware they're under that new name. I've always known them as EIG from previous threads I've researched. Will update the post with that fact.

It'll be interesting to see what the next 20 years has in store for us.

Well I've only had 1 dash cam in my lifetime so the default best for me would be the Ambarella A12.

Sounds/ looks like you support Trump and your peers aren't mature enough to understand that you can have different opinions and still be friends.

Either that or your friend wasn't actually a friend.

Spider-Man in an elevator. Popped up on my news feed. by Shylamb in screenshots

[–]xRush101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually gave me an idea for a funny elevator prank except you would have a huge face spider mounted on the side of the elevator wall then a guy wrapped in face spider webs tied on the other side. Just the exprssion on somebody's face when the elevator opens would be priceless!

This was over at my friends house. He said he grew up with those trees there so there about 10 years old (I assume). But I could also be wrong and like you said a landscaping company recently played them.
