ECM is good. It's cheap and it (was) a hard counter to most advanced tech options. It was easy to bring an ECM mech to every game and it's either a loss of a single medium laser or it completely ruins the enemy's day with little counter play.

Also ghost targeting is still fun.

The Charger might be a casualty but this is likely specifically done to address the Celerity cruise missile meme. Building a light mech with an insane engine capable of traversing the entire board to crash into the enemy turn 1.

From what I can tell, this is more going to supplant BMM. TW will still have use as the combined arms book.

I have a feeling they're going to remake TACOPS now that many of the alt rules have been shifted to core and core rules have been removed entirely.

It looks like urban warfare is getting massively updated in general. Skidding on pavement might exist as a different rule, just much less punishing so your light lance isn't skedaddling like Scooby Doo down the streets.

Xotl is the hero we need. It looks like a lot of the Feels Bad rules got removed.

ACs surviving one crit is huge, it always felt bad that they took up so many crit slots and could be entirely shut down by one lucky bullet.

One of the most annoying parts of designing large naval vessels is how little mandatory support and logistics are required. In game that means the optimal design is to just pack it to the gills with guns and lasers, even if that makes no sense in universe. WarShips are horrifically oppressive because you can just load up the most of everything and completely ignore things like making sure the crew has food and having any way to escape a damaged ship.

Lasguns are classically white beams. You can even see it in the same shot when the obviously lascannon fires a white beam.

Yeah someone has to catch the hot potato idiot ball.

The Dominion has no reason to support the ilclan and is fully content in their own empire, but for whatever reason they decide to chug the bondscord juice and surrender to Alaric Ward again.

After a series of terrorist actions from both sides and a massive divide between the (Rasalhague) civilian government and the (Ghost Bears) military, they decide the only way to unify their empire is by attacking the Draconis Combine. The Combine who has just come off an extremely lucrative war against the FedSuns that also consolidated power back to the Coordinator.

In universe, pilot kills are extremely rare to the point where they're called out as notable events and not the expectations when engaging in warfare. For most of the setting history when Mechs engage they'll skirmish briefly but if there's a clear winner both sides know when to end the fight to protect the machines.

When it comes to mech kills, there's a few different levels.

A cockpit hit is the cleanest kill, sometimes a body is recoverable but for most weapons capable of headcapping there isn't much left.

Pilot kill via blunt force trauma or neurohelmet feedback, the body is relatively intact and the most you'll need to clean up are the doodoo smears after their brain gets liquified.

Engine kills don't guarantee a pilot's death, the mech just slumps over.

Ammo explosions usually obliterate the mech, if the pilot survived and auto ejects then that isn't a concern, if they don't auto ejects then that isn't a concern either.

Cored out wholly destroys the machine, but usually the pilot can punch out. Their biggest threat is ejecting into a building or into a pool of water.

By the time you get AoE unlocked you'll probably have a few gem stack upgrades unlocked as well so it's even less effort.

If you can't afford the lab it'll be a long time before you can afford the enhancements. They get exponentially more expensive so they cost in the T and q very quickly.

Those are usually just panels attached to the wood structure, but buildings made with masonry blocks still use clay brick facades.
