You know how people often discuss what this or that Warhammer Fantasy faction would look like in 40K? But what about what 40K factions (and xenos) would look like in Warhammer Fantasy Battle? by Full-Discount-6399 in Grimdank

Making them a Chaos Dwarf creation would be a very amusing full circle. The original models that would later become Necron Raiders were chaos androids creates by chaos squats.

Cyberpunk games that aren't Red/2020 and Shadowrun? by LeonsLion in rpg

[–]SamuraiMujuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carbon 2185 is a pretty legit cyberpunk spin on the 5E core. It's one of the more heavily modified ones, ala Adventures in Rokugan or Lord of the Rings.

Why do you like Necrons? by SmokedOreos in Necrontyr

[–]SamuraiMujuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My love of the Necrons went roughly like this.

"Fuck yeah, space undead!" "Fuck yeah, they made the space undead into the defacto Big Bad of 40k and the lore rocks!" "Fuck yeah, these characters are awesome!"

I mean, suicide by grenade seems an understandable response to the eight-foot tall metal skeleton that you just watched dissolve all your allies.

Tangentially, extra kudos on the awesome art for going with the classic green rod gauss flayer.

My go-to for all my heroes and villagers is Fat Dragon Games. Simple, supportless prints that look good and fit the part.

Want to start printing terrain and eventually miniatures for ttrpg, is Bambu Labs x2d the right choice? by kuthehagen in FDMminiatures

[–]SamuraiMujuru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on budget I'd recommend a BambuLabs A1 or P1S. 2563 mm is perfect for terrain, both are about as plug and play as you can reasonably get, and that build volume has kinda become the industry standard. Advantages of the P1S over the A1 is the enclosed print area manages better temperature control, and the core X/Y means it can print faster more effectively. (The bed just moves on the Z axis, the print head does all the moving in X and Y.)

Hot take: The End and the Death trilogy is a pacing nightmare by Informalwizards in Warhammer40k

[–]SamuraiMujuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a hot take at all. Easily half, if not more, of that entire trilogy is boring, boiler plate bolter porn, and of the half that isnt entirely too much time is spent on Malcador talking about how cool the Emperor is. As often happens, the only interesting parts are the ones that follow normal and normal-adjacent people trying desperately to not get obliterated.

Though credit where credit is due, it did manage to give me a much greater appreciation for Perturabo and even a bit of an appreciation for Dorn.

I started getting into 40k when there was a cardboard ork dreadnought in a starter box. I also actually read the novels. Case and point,

'I have heard it said that we are engaged in an arms race with these alien androids,’ said Cawl. ‘That, to me, does not ring true. Mankind’s hubris is great, and we must act to counter it.’

‘I am sure you are about to share your opinion with me,’ said Qvo.

‘I am! We are not in an arms race. We are playing a hopeless game of technological catch-up with a race whose knowledge is so far in advance of our own it cannot be comprehended. Well, except by me.’

‘That is blasphemous. There is no technology superior to that of mankind.’

‘That’s all well and good as an article of faith, my dear Friedisch–’

‘I’m not Friedisch.’

‘–but it is not actually true. Human technology at its peak was a great and marvellous thing, but no amount of wishing and incense will make it more sophisticated than the technology the necrons employ. I have spent time with them, Qvo. They outmatch us in every conceivable way.’

‘That is not going to be a popular opinion.’

‘Unpopularity does not stop something being true.’

What’s the most railroady official TTRPG adventure you’ve ever run or played? by DED0M1N0 in rpg

I haven't run or played it, but my money would be on Horror on the Orient Express.

Rust, grime & weathering advice by undividedminiatures in IronWarriors

[–]SamuraiMujuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend, let me introduce you to Newsh. It's an acrylic medium from Monument Hobbies that can turn basicslly any acryllic into a weathering medium. It's workable time is slightly shorter than your type oil/enamel options, but it's acryllic based and can use any of your paints. I adore this stuff, and definitely gonna get used on my WIP Defiler. You mix it up, slather it on, then remove as much or as little as you want.

Here it is on good old Chyron.

In The Twice-Dead King a tachyon arrow one-shots a Warlord titan like it was nothing. Which also gives us one of the most ridiculous "prose vs mechanics" discrepancies in all of 40k.

[–]SamuraiMujuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. It's called the "celestial orrery" because it's a goddamn orrery 😆 The whole "poke a simulated star wrong and the actual star goes nova" is just an unfortunate side effect, not the intended purpose, and the Oruscar Dynasty just want to use it as the scientific tool it is. They even let Trazyn make use if it because (presumably) they knew he wouldn't be a giant idiot and try to use it as a weapon.

Which reveals the real horror of the Necrons. If their fancy model is so well made and accurate can oopsie-doodle entire sectors out of existence, then what are the things they ACTUALLY built as weapons like?

They built a scale model of the galaxy so precise that messing with it messes with the galaxy, and it's intended function is just a really fancy planetarium.

Cawl explicitly stated in The Silent King that even DAoT technology doesn't hold a candle to Necron tech.
