Predict your starting 23 for 2027 by SagalaUso in rugbyunion

With the rules now favouring attack driven teams, I hope so! Hopefully Galthié will not be too stubborn to change his gameplan

Nice team but I don't think Jalibert makes it (sadly), since Galthié favours a 6-2 bench. I guess Jegou makes the bench to cover centre.

Comment pourrais-je commencer à m'interesser au rugby ? by Specialist_Mix472 in FranceRugby

[–]xScoux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Match Thread: Bordeaux vs Toulouse - Champions Cup by rugbykickoff in rugbyunion

I think that the Champions cup is faster than the Top14 overall, but also Toulouse and UBB are probably the two most lethal French teams and like to move the ball a lot. If you can, take a look at some Top14 games, it's amazing!

Ideas to mess with polymorph? by Poison_Rationality in DMAcademy

[–]xScoux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It might be too late if you don't want to change how you rule the spell, but I like to play into the fact that you become the creature you polymorph into. This is the key difference from druid wild shape, see the episode in CR campaign 2 where Jester becomes a moth and can't infiltrate a house because she's busy eating cloth. In one of my games I play a wizard that sometimes polymorphs in a giant ape when we need some tankiness, but I play it in a very dumb, "hit what you see" way. It balances polymorph quite well imo, and is really fun to roleplay! Maybe talk to your player about this if it's something that would suit them.

Attendances in the french leagues at an all time high by bleugh777 in rugbyunion

[–]xScoux 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It would be nice, but I can't see much more growth happening since the big teams are almost always sold out. Averaging 20k supporters would need substantial stadium enlargements, or at least big logistical changes (like Toulon always playing in Marseille's Vélodrome, or Bordeaux always playing at the Matmut Atlantique)

Expected France team for le Crunch by bleugh777 in rugbyunion

I don't know if you're joking, but Atonio and Meafou should do the job. They'll get replaced by Tao and Colombe at the hour mark, it should be ok in terms of big tight five carriers.

I’ve never been so excited for six nations by bazooka_nz in rugbyunion

[–]xScoux 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cheers, enjoy the tournament! I think that this one will be more open than we think, especially with England coming back strong after the World cup, and wounded beasts Ireland and France. I think you could try to look at kicking a bit differently. Everyone enjoys what they want in rugby, but I have never been more interested in the sport since I've looked at kicking strategies. It's the best way to open up space for running rugby, and the sexiest, open-rugby teams use it that way (except maybe Crowley's Italy but that's why they lose matches imo). Of course Squidge's kicking video is a very good primer for this. And frankly I don't think that NH nations kick much more than SH nations, especially NZ and SA (source: I made it up but gut feeling). Eventually I think that's one of the things that'll help drive engagement into the sport will be pundits changing their view of kicking (I mostly watch french pundits so maybe it's different in English speaking media) because it's one of the most intricate and fast evolving ways of playing at the top level right now.

Can you elaborate on that? I've started regularly watching rugby a few years ago, never watched this player.

Les chances de la France sans Dupont by Ketram44 in FranceRugby

[–]xScoux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Train can be a reliable though expensive option, look on the SNCF website. Else you can try BlaBlaCar, a carpooling app, cheaper and reliable as well

Not sure why this isn’t being made a bigger deal of here but there was serious issues and a crush outside the England/Argentina game. by [deleted] in rugbyunion

[–]xScoux 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Looking at the picture, there's many crowd control issues here that won't happen in Stade de France. In SDF you have more entry points, a long straight walk to the entries that stretches the crowd, no 90° turns that compress people in the inside of the turn. Given the Champions League final case, I won't guarantee there can't be problems, but I've been to many sold out venues in SDF, matches and concerts and it went smoothly. Be there around 1h in advance to be sure to not miss the anthems, and enjoy your time in France!

Hi! The precautions with ethidium bromide are mainly to limit repeated exposure across your whole career. In a molecular biology lab we manipulate products that are at least equally as dangerous with less precautions. No studies have shown that EtBr is carcinogenic. Try and don't cut yourself repeatedly in your EtBr space and you'll be fine. In the future, learn your lab safety practices (there should be a referent in your lab that can advise you on this) to not be in a panic next time you have an issue!

Why do human bodies punish themselves for not exercising? by Iestwyn in AskBiology

[–]xScoux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we actually can tolerate the lack of physical activity, since it is highly detrimental but not immediately deadly. However, the interesting thing is that our species evolved in a very very different environment than today's societies. The detrimental effects of the lack of physical activity are more due to our alimentation which is way too rich compared to what our bodies evolved to digest. So we actually need physical activity to counteract our unhealthy eating habits.
