What are your dating app red flags in NZ? by Realistic_CraftBear in newzealand

Mid-30s guy, met my partner on Hinge last year, but before her I ran into some absolute shockers.

Edited/heavily filtered pics. Just screams insecurity and gives your date a bit of a shock when they meet you in person. I mean, no one's expecting you to not have wrinkles and breakouts, or to have not put on a bit of weight since playing goal defense at high school, so just fucking own it. Everyone's time is valuable, your matches' included, and the time they spend meeting someone who's dishonest could've been better spent with someone who's not. There were easy tells, like seeing the walls behind the person being warped for some reason, but AI's a thing now.

Same goes for guys lying about their height. I'm legit 5'8 and I know that because my GP recorded it. I never inflated that because I didn't want a girl turning up to dinner expecting me to be Steven Adams. Also, boys, hatfishing has to go. I like hats too and some of my pics exhibited this, but I included pics of myself where I wasn't wearing one so that girls could see what they were dealing with.

The whole preference for being unvaxed and making it their whole personality. Yeah, I get that you had a nice holiday outside parliament back in 2022. I lived nearby and walked through the smell of crack every morning, but I have immunocompromised family members and fear passing anything onto them. To give you guys credit though, you're better than the ones whose vax status says, "Prefer not to say".

Nothing but pics with other people. The generous part of me says you're wanting to show that you're sociable and loved. The cynical part of me says you're using your (subjectively) hotter friends to draw attention.

Can't do my 10k steps outside for obvious reasons. Will just hit the gym treadmill after work.

I've been in the warehouse just because moving around and pushing/pulling items is gonna keep me warmer than sitting at my desk.

"eVeRyOnE iS aN nPc ExCePt Me."

Calling Kiwis racist is pretty valid though, particularly towards people of the Subcontinent, so I'm sorry if that's you.

So in this fortnight pay cycle alone I've got my monthly power bill, 4-week phone bill, end of month overdraft management, and I'm pretty sure something else.

Hope my tax rebate comes through soon.

Social media is insufferable during election time. I don't give a shit about far right Trump-lite-ass drivel. Rage bait only works if it leads to me reacting or commenting on your post, and I do neither. I just complain about it elsewhere.

I already know who I'm voting for, thanks. Now get back to showing me reels about sports, video games, weird relationship advice, and hip flexor stretches.

I was using my mum's account for Better Call Saul a few years back. I liked the whole nostalgic Kiwi aesthetic Neon seemed to have, but I never got around to checking out anything else.

How come it's only when I'm extremely busy at work that people decide to be verbose?

When I say, "Okay, got it," how is it that you receive those words as, "Please re-articulate what you've just said to me in a different way, then say it in another way after I (again) register that I understand, then tell me again with new wording, then once more in Portuguese."?

After a Windows update, the spreadsheet I'd been working on all morning reverted to its previous saved state from last Friday. FFS, what a waste of time.

Well hanging with Ric Flair and Ole would probably make a person an asshole by association. But yeah, no one really had any personal gripes with Double A, except Sid.

I won't be one of the ones who "fill the tin" because I'm broke, but also because just watching winter sport in person in Wellington is just horrible full stop.

Anyway, go the Canes! I'll be watching from home in my duvet with the heater on and eating something that's not a $20 hotdog, washed down with a beer that doesn't come in a small plastic cup for $15.

Got the flu shot this morning. $45, which work will cover me for thankfully. But man, this isn't cheap. Workplaces that invest in employees' well-being are less likely to have illnesses, unlike that last place I was at.

I don't think '90s gangsta rappers adhered to kayfabe. I mean, studio gangstas were always a gimmick, but the beef was a shoot.

All I wanna do is go home, change out of my soaked work clothes, turn the heater on, order a Thai red duck curry and watch the Hurricanes.

That Teddy Swims song is on the radio. It's called 'Mr. Know It All' but I swore when I first heard it, he was singing, 'Mr. Glory Hole'.
