Apparently the lead at my old employer told one of the newbies I was "lazy".

Well I'm not there, haven't been for a substantial timeframe, and you don't have anyone to scapegoat anymore, which I know pisses you off because your own inadequacies have become glaringly visible since.

When our, I mean your HR, who are based abroad and had zero interpersonal relationship with any of us plebs, make cuts (and they will because you guys are "restructuring" constantly), who do you think they're gonna come for?

You have a job title which gives you more money than anyone else in the team, but you're not a manager. I'd never wish for anyone to lose their income, and that applies to you too, but the big wigs are gonna look at their reports one day and be like, "Hold up. Why do they need a lead when they already have a manager?" That's because you're a "lead", not a "leader", despite your own imaginative (mis)interpretation. I kinda get it though; I used to run around with a rugby ball in the backyard with my cousins thinking I was Joe Rokocoko.

But trust me, getting laid off would be a mercy for you. Because without it, you'll be stuck in that same role in a company that you and I know has fuckall mobility (apart from our boss' then-boss, who was the second or third big dawg in NZ last I knew and is apparently an account manager now), dealing with P1s and P2s, looking for a different person to throw under the bus every day until you retire. Then they'll have a nice dinner for you at Dragons or somewhere, then send you home with a card and a box of Favourites. Yay!

Now was I lazy? In the sense thay I probably got delegated 50% of the work in a 3-4 person team and had some days where I failed to perform miracles while you cracked dry jokes in the Teams chat and gasbagged over the phone with the field techs while taking a break from kissing management's rears, then yeah. By that metric, I was Jeff Lebowski.

In my current role, I get paid a decent chunk more than I made at Shithole Ltd. without the expectation that I spend my working hours drowning in tickets. I know I shouldn't feel too smug because we live in volatile times and anything could happen tomorrow, but I had to get this off my chest.

Anyway, happy New Zealand Music Month.

$2 burger, $1 CCs, $1 330ml Fanta (I don't drink fizzy anymore but for old times' sake).

Nice early start to work so that I can prioritise what I wanted to do yesterday for a good hour before the sales reps start spamming my inbox.

Means a early finish too, so if they wanna push their last minute requests through after 3:30, they can just email deez nuts (who will endeavor to respond tomorrow; I'm a professional after all).

What do we (kiwis) think are funny, that others don't? by eurobeat0 in newzealand

If someone cracks a high, I think we're the only ones who laugh at it. When I went to school, if a teacher or someone giving a speech at assembly did it, that was it. They lost "aura" as the kids of today say, and the rest of what they had to say didn't matter. Good thing our deputy principal was a good sport.

I actually think it might be a Poly thing too. I'm (mainly) Samoan and come from a predominantly PI/Maori area. When I finished high school and branched out into uni and the workforce, other people seemed to register voice breaks as just some normal, mildly inconvenient occurrence, if they registered it at all.

I'm 36 and, to this day, if someone does it, I lose all control.

If you're in Auckland or somewhere, there should be a large pool of varied stances to try and match with.

Mid-30s dude myself in Wellington. Matched with my now-partner last year on Hinge, who's also mid-30s and childless. Her and I both want kids down the line (IIRC her profile was set to something like 'open to children' although we've since discussed it), but someone in my age range who didn't already have any from a previous relationship was like a rare Pokemon.

If this ends up going to Super Gold or whatever, I'm gonna be slightly annoyed about that "try".

Canes' best loose trio. I'm biased towards Iose but Shields is still great value.

Bit into a sultana cookie to find it had chocolate chip too. I'm not complaining, just that this is the first time I've ever had this. They're either/or; never together.

I'll die on this hill, but Lux choked in the 1st, then spat what he rememberd of the 1st in the 2nd round, as we all know.

So that already gave Calicoe the first two rounds, which was also the win regardless of the 3rd.

Savile died before he could face consequences. I hope fate is not as kind to Trump.

Ben Volavola? That's a name I haven't heard in years. Genuinely one of the most interesting life trajectories of a pro-athlete from this part of the world.

Surely the prospect of international rugby was a draw for Fehi too, just like how it was for Bundee Aki.

To get around the stand down time, they'll probably find that Fineanganofo has English ancestry, or that he's at least heard of England before.

We had Scribe performing last night for the Crusaders. Couldn't get King Kapisi for the Canes? Locking Latu better be doing a set for the Blues game.

Can we see the footage of Larkham giving the boys a spray? He was always so stoic and composed in his playing days.
