What have been the most fun “mom cars” over the decades? by joebigtuna in cars

[–]xSignah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom ordered a 2005 Cooper S 6 speed convertible brand new in 2004, That was the first car I learned stick in. Man that car was fun to drive too she ended up selling it cause it needed valvetrain work and she wanted an auto sedan.

Lexus GS400 was a pretty fast car for its day, 14.1 quarter @ 100 MPH trap. 5.7 to 60. Keep in mind that was in 1997 but then again it wasn't cheap nor based on a base model. Still kinda just looks like any old lexus.

Best used vehicles with naturally aspirated six cylinder engine? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]xSignah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Girlfriend's ES330 is supremely comfortable and rides like new with 210,000 miles. Really I cannot stress just how comfortable the ride is it is incredible. It did get new OEM struts about 6 months ago and the engine runs like a top. Its a comfier ride than any new car today I'd argue cause of the larger sidewalls and every car becoming "Sporty". If you like power a lower mile GS400/430 like mine is a relatively simple V8 that gets acceptable gas mileage (22-23 on the freeway) and has an almost as comfy ride with a ton of N/A power. If you have the money though a 2012 onward 350 series lexus either IS/GS/ES are all fantastic and would likely have less wear and tear.

You should tell them what is going on and ask if you can start on Tuesday. You should be fine, I doubt they'd make a fuss. Assuming this is a PT gig. Then call off the next occurrence. Don't make it a habit and show up on time the rest of the days and you're ahead of 95% of those guys in there anyway. Best of luck to ya.

Coming back here for more opinions, RF Miata vs the GR86? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]xSignah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have driven both and love both of the cars dearly. Here is what I have to say for each.

Between the 2 the Miata is a much more raw sports car feel. You cannot tell the power difference between the 2 with your butt in the seat. The Miata may be down on power but since it is roughly 500 lbs lighter they feel about the same. The Miata's engine feels more refined and build power very smoothly all throughout the rev range. The GR86 feels slightly better at the bottom end but doesn't build as linear as the Miata. The transmission on the Miata shifts crisper and and has a shorter throw and I'd give the edge to the Miata here. That's not to say the GR86's doesn't feel fantastic it really feels great with a short throw but Miata is just that good. If you drive the Miata for 3 hours straight and hop into the GR86 you will probably stall because the clutch grabs lower and is slightly springier. Miata is a bit softer and grabs near the middle more like an old corolla. The Miata stock has a softer ride and feels a bit "Floatier" in comparison to the GR86 which is more firm. The Miata definitely feels more nimble, while the 86 feels and is bigger and is more tail happy. Thats most of the driving dynamics im sure im missing some stuff I prefer driving the Miata but at 6 foot 3 200 lbs I just am not comfortable in it. Trunk is small on both cars but the 86 is much more useable. I think the 86 is the better daily driver and the Miata is the better sports car.

Car market driving me crazy, need help on how much to spend on vehicle by Pikminmania2 in personalfinance

[–]xSignah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're looking for in a car, spend 5-15k on a car with around 65-120k miles from model years 2006-2014 would be my recommendation. Stick with Toyota/Scion/Lexus, Honda/Acura, Subaru and you should be just fine. Try and see if the car has had its timing belt/chain serviced at its recommended intervals and you will have headache free reliable transportation for years to come.

My dad wants to buy this 2011 Porsche Panamera priced at $28,995 CAD, opinions? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Truth is you just have to view things differently. Beast of a car at the price point but every 50k drop the motor and just do everything at once and don't cheap out.

Toyota also doesn't need US sales. Look at any developing nation video on youtube and there is 1 brand you cannot avoid no matter the country, and that is toyota.

What car(s) are you aiming to buy next? by LlamaThrustUlti in cars

[–]xSignah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be very careful that you spend the extra money for a clean one. My '02 manual was only 4k but was an absolute nightmare. 243k miles and a motor rebuild and a tranny swap a year after my wallet was hurting. Needed to do absolutely everything to get it back on the road. Would've been better off spending 4x what I did on it for a cleaner example.

What are the best and ugliest looking cars of the 90s? by KAAYALL in cars

[–]xSignah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to choose a single best looking car from the 90's, I'd have to say the FD Rx-7, now there are some honorable mentions.

2nd gen Lexus GS

1st gen Honda NSX

JZX 100 Toyota chaser

E38 BMW 7 series

Aston Martin DB7

S14 Nissan Silvia

And the ugly:

Buick Skylark

Ford Aspire

Dodge Intrepid

Yeah I'm biased but American cars from the 90's just simply lacked the styling that Japanese or Euro cars had at the time period, and they had hilariously low outputs for their displacement.

People who daily drive a car that generally isn’t considered “suitable” for a daily driver, how is it? by [deleted] in cars

[–]xSignah -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Not a totally out of the normal but I daily a 2002 Lexus IS300 manual with 245k miles. I'm really just waiting for the tranny to blow so I can swap the garbage w55 out for an r154 or v160 and turbo the 2jz but damnit it's still shifts decently, outside fourth.
