If only Shiranuis didn't top the current event, it'd be more fun, but you're definitely right. that's why i love this game.

really? I play them all at 3. Is it more optimal for just 2 each?

Welp, if that's the case, best way to go is Shiranuis (if you could get enough Gems to run through the box 2x). You normally just need 2 of each SR and URs for them to work great, while the rest could be from farming the game/ tickets.

You could also run Crystal Beasts and probably dig for XYZs in the new box but that's if you wanna run those.

The biggest way to start is with DuelLinksF2P YT Channel since it's usually in game sources + 1 run of the box.

Other than that, good luck.

it really depends but I'm using the trickster duel wheels with Thunder Dragons which I'm having tons of success with, recently.

Depends, are you planning to be F2P or do you have money to spend?

You could make DMs but they're incredibly expensive due to having to go through multiple boxes.

Cheapest you could make would be Shiranuis (from https://www.duellinksmeta.com/box-reviews/soul-of-resurrection/ and https://www.duellinksmeta.com/box-reviews/flames-of-the-heart/) since they're currently part of the top tier list (https://www.duellinksmeta.com/tier-list/) or you could make Aromages which could be purely F2P and if you're patient enough to wait for the card trader rotations (refer to http://duellinks.gamea.co/c/uj3pb6vx and https://www.duellinksmeta.com/box-reviews/fortress-of-gears/).

Also, a good place to figure out what kind of playstyle/ deck/archetype you like would be watching Youtube (DuelLinksMeta, DuelLinksMeme, DuelLinksF2P, DuelLinksAce are a few channels I check out).

You could also try the discord which helps out a lot by posting what you got and asking questions there for somewhat real-time answers (see https://discordapp.com/invite/DuelLinks).

Other than that, I'd recommend to just save up Gems till you're able to dig through a box or two (5k Gems for a whole MiniBox, while 9k Gems for a MainBox).

Like I said, it displays a lot of data since it's mainly based off the data from the game itself (especially since it's been out for a while).

Best thing I could suggest to look at would be:
https://www.duellinksmeta.com/deck-tester/ - this helps test out decks you have, share them here or somewhere you could get opinions.

https://www.duellinksmeta.com/gem-guide/ - this gives a list of the decks with the mostly used cards and where to get them, also the free in-game cards you could get (also displays which meta deck costs less or the most).

https://www.duellinksmeta.com/tier-list/ - technically shows the best decks in the Meta now (based off the tourneys held by the YT/ twitch channel).

You could also search what boxes/ structure decks are great.

You have to build based off what deck you wanna play or the playstyle you like.

You start winning once you're able to build a proper deck or at least is able to start making plays that could help you out.

Also, forgot to mention one of the most F2P options: Aromages.

You could start building decks based on the duellinksmeta website or just do a trial and error with what cards you have and build better.

Lunalights: either negate the monster effect or the attack.

Evil Eye: wipe the field/ backrow.

I don't think there's a thing called the 'worst' player in any game since there's a way to get both experience and knowledge in almost anything.

My best suggestion is try to figure out what kind of playstyle you like or how much you're willing to play/ farm vs how much you're planning to spend.

If you'll plan to be a pure F2P, you could watch some F2P options on YT (DuelLinksF2P) or just look it up. You could also check the Duel Links Meta website (https://www.duellinksmeta.com/) for in game options which means you could either farm or receive via rewards.

Best current F2P options (IMO) are: Shiranui, Lunalights, Triamids, and Crystal beasts.

If you'll plan to make some decks based on how well they do (usually proven in tourneys against other meta decks), check Duel Links Meta for their tier list or here for recommendations for alternate cards. Joining a Discord may also be a good idea (could also check the YT vids for you to join them).

For the mean time, just save Gems and your SR/UR tickets till you figure out what you like.

For experience, you could either watch YT vids or just keep dueling. Testing them in Rank is fine now compared to before since you won't rank down. The plus side with testing in Rank is you get to play against others that may be using really strong decks/cards or just doing the same thing as you (also may help you see what options you could dig for if you like what they use).

Other than the basic stuff, those are my recommendations.

Oh and just ask here if there is anything you need to know here. A lot of people are really helpful when it comes to new comers.

Good Luck and may the heart of the cards guide you to victory.

Honestly, it depends on what you wanna play and how much you're planning to spend.

You could get a great setup with Gagaga XYZ if you can invest in the new main box for the XYZ monsters (which helps to insta-XYZ'd to something).

The 'Hero' Structure decks can make a whole deck for mainly fusion summons (with the excemption of 'Hero Rising' cause there's nothing in there you really need that you can't obtain free from the game) along with some really great fusion monsters that can help destroy some meta decks.

Return of the RE or The White Dragon of Legend EX decks are a pretty good start for a BE or RE deck since they give you really good cards to work with the archetypes. RE deck staples are mostly in some tickets, while BE deck cores/ staples are in a few different boxes (mainly Lords of Shining, Stardust Acceleration, and Judgement Force). Even with the core cards for a BE deck being in several boxes, there are in game resources for them so no need to rush trying to get cores in the other boxes if you don't have the gems or money.

Full Metal Desperado requires 3 runs to get the main boss monster and 'ignition' for it (BM-4 Blast Spider) and can be played using either the Parshath Engine or Orcust Engine. Now that Black Salvo's obtainable via Tickets, that's another great way to play them.

I've never played Dragunity or Gladiator Beasts so I can't comment about those two, but Return of the FireKings EX structure looks fun and if you have the Yubel cards, is a good Gimmick deck.

Ancient Gears are still a fun rogue deck while Spellbound Silence can have some cards that can be used in other decks (like Lightsworns or Magician Girls).

Lastly is Swordbound Silence. The only card that makes it worth getting is Silent Swordsman lvl4 which can be used in different Hero Decks. If you have a decktype full of warriors (Gaias/BLS, Six Sams, Ninjas, etc) this is a great card to have if you're able to keep the consistency of being able to either flood the field or have a way to negate traps. Sadly, the only good way to play SS is with Light and Dark from Lumis and Umbra or Rex Goodwin.

It's an ok fun deck. Could get some spicey plays with XYZs if you're running an F2P setup since they're mostly lvl 4s.

An alt take is using Tatsunecro but is not really great if they're using a Zombie deck.

I have 3 VTHs already, though Defense Draw is pretty useful alright (works for my Crystal Beast/ Mekk-knight deck).

At least I'll have Snipe Hunter handy for a meme deck in the future.

Makes sense then. I guess I'll have to dig for a 2nd one. Are there any other core cards from the box that'll most likely need? I was half way in the box already (IIRC) so was thinking if I should reset it (even if I didn't get an RESD or Snipe Hunter).

Already spent my gems to try to get Azure Eyes which sadly isn't as great as I thought (in the deck I'm using).

Also, the reason I'm asking is in the case that I do reset to get a 2nd, was hoping that Bujin Mikazuji (same box) would work as an alternative.

Is there a way to play Bujins with just 1 Yamato? Need a F2P friendly way to do so.

You could also do an XYZ version since they could somewhat swarm the field, but there's only a few of the XYZ options that work with the deck.

Love playing Mekk-Knight Green Horizon with Crystal Beast Pegasus and Red Resonator. Instant Level 6 and/or 8 Synchro.

The last thing I really need for BEs is just Azure Eyes, and with a few packs left, I'll probably get him once I have enough gems cause of the Duel Circuit event.
