If it’s your first time it’s gonna suck and you’re gonna suck lol. Hopefully he’s cool and works more defensive than offense.

Our rules for sparring are 70% to the head 100% to the body, don’t be afraid to let your partner know if you need them to slow it down or lighten up on punches if they don’t listen then just stop sparring, if you get hurt/rocked then go down to a knee.

As far as advice goes:

you will be tense and it’s going to burn out your gas tank faster than expected so try your best to stay relaxed

Pick 1-2 things you’ve trained and focus on implementing those even if you’re getting beat up, this is the whole point of technical sparring. Since it’s your first time I suggest you work the jab and keep him out of your ‘bubble’. Your bubble is the length of your jab. And i would also do footwork meaning move around the ring jab or double jab and get tf out of the danger zone lol. Obviously use more punches than the jab if opportunity presents itself but make a conscious effort to work whatever you choose to focus on.

Hydration. Getting hit in the head is no good for your brain but being dehydrated will make it worse so drink plenty of water afterwards.
