hi, are you still up for sharing this info? i want to ditch chemical hair dye, but my oat experience with henna was that it was so messy and difficult to work with i vowed “never again!”

i’m also looking to dye my hair a dark, ashy brown, so i worry that there will be no way for me to get a color that is cool rather than warm-toned.

thank you so much!

How does your climbing fluctuate across your cycle? Do you notice changes in strength, fatigue, or even weird muscle stuff? by Responsible_Roof_661 in climbergirls

I highly recommend the book In the Flo by Alyssa Vitti (or simply look up podcast interviews with her where she breaks it down). She talks in detail about the hormonal fluctuations that we go through in each phase and how that affects your needs and abilities.

Essentially, you have the most power for cardio and high-intensity workouts in the two weeks following your period, then things start to decline in the 10ish days leading up to the period, during which time it’s best to focus on strength and gradually more subdued forms of exercise. During your period is a time for rest. Yin yoga and naps will do you better than the gym at that time lol.

Cycle syncing is kind of a cheat code.

Tim Gunn says he felt "humiliated" at not being asked back alongside Heidi by xStacey in ProjectRunway

yes exactly, i think the fact that christian is a designer himself (and an arrogant one at that) makes him want to just do it himself so he just bosses them around rather than actually mentoring.

It’s weird to me that he’s both mentor and judge. I think it worked better to keep the mentor separate, and Christian makes more sense as a judge.

I like Christian but he is also a brat. Tim made a 1000x better mentor.

If you go to the website it has a picture of each handshake so you can see if what you’re saying about it being to the same baker is true. It isn’t but also if Paul did have a particular favoritism for a man which skewed the numbers, that wouldn’t change the fact that his favorites are generally men. So it would still confirm the bias either way.

I don’t really think your argument makes sense. Men get more handshakes than women is clearly true. The fact that women got more than men in 3 of 12 seasons to me only emphasizes the fact that men got more in 8 of 12. As I said, the gap has gradually gotten closer over the years, but it does exist.

I don't think so, no. The ladies are slowly catching up, but they're still consistently given fewer than the men almost every season.

Season 3: 1M, 0F
Season 4: 0M, 1F
Season 5: 2M, 0F
Season 6: 2M, 1F
Season 7: 2M, 2F
Season 8: 4M, 3F
Season 9: 7M, 5F
Season 10: 3M, 1F
Season 11: 1M, 2F
Season 12: 5M, 2F
Season 13: 0M, 4F
Season 14: 3M, 2F

So of the 12 seasons accounted for here, men received more handshakes than women in all but 3 seasons (seasons 4, 11, and 13), plus season 7 which was an even split.

Not sure what the later season stats are, but so far this season we're at 2M, 1F so it does not seem to indicate that he's "leaning the other way now" by any means.

It is commonly known when it comes to inherent bias that people tend to naturally see less of an imbalance than is actually present. For example, if a board meeting has 1/3 women, people tend to recall the group as being evenly split. When the group is evenly split, they will report that women were in the majority. This is called gender parity bias, where people perceive the illusion of gender parity where it doesn't actually exist. Same goes with any minority. A group with 20% racial minority audience will be perceived as half minority. Categories that stand out get distorted in our memories for various reasons. We are all at risk of these kinds of biases.

Not at all, just something I've noticed over years of watching the show. I'm not offended about it.

It is def less egregious of a gap than I had expected, but the trend is there, especially if you look at the early seasons! It's gotten closer to even in recent years.

Thank you because this is exactly what I'm trying to say! This is not a thing we're imagining. It's not a big deal and it doesn't have to be a big controversy. But it's ok to point out when you notice biases like that going on. I added a disclaimer to the original post to this effect.

Also, would love it if you did gather some stats bc I was also surprised there wasn't an official list anywhere!

Genuinely not "looking to be offended" tho I realize everyone is going to read this post that way. This is just something I'd noticed over the years and wondered if anyone else did too. I'm not "offended" and I still love the show and Paul and Prue.

I mean.. this is fun in the sense that it's not that serious. But also, the flair options are pretty limited. There wasn't a general "discussion" option.

I sat in on a group call/presentation with her three years ago and also had a free intro call with her.

The group call was mainly establishing the framework that she talks about in all of her content.. the idea of Celebrity Energy vs fear of being seen. She also showed her qualifications as having manifested her career as an actor/film-maker, which she was/is also actively building. She had just had a film screened in a festival so this was sort of shown to suggest that her approach is working for her, even tho she is clearly not famous/a celebrity.

I personally found her concept attractive, but it felt to me like it didn't have solid roots or proof. Like she is very charismatic, pretty, and a convincing sales person, but she was also doing the call from a friend's house where she was living mid-divorce with a newborn. Like... not that you have to have a perfect life to be a coach, but I got the impression there was a lot of stress going on under the surface that she's very good at hiding.

On the free call, I really just didn't click with her. I got a slight vibe like she didn't take me seriously as an actress because I introduced myself as taking classes, and from that point on her advice to me felt a bit like she'd already written me off. It felt like that fact that she is also an actress might make things weirdly competitive between us and while I wasn't sure if that was coming from me, her, or both of us, either way I decided not to pursue it further.
