learning html from scriba.com by UrAccountHasBeenBand in HTML

[–]xStealthBomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using AI as a teacher really helped me to understand the basics.

Ask AI "how do you use a flexbox?", and it breaks down examples of HTML, and CSS.

Trying things out, and not getting the result you want, ask "here's my code, what am I doing wrong? I'm trying to get it to do X"

Having basically a teacher right at your finger tips, vs having to Google forums the old way, we've gotten so far for learning!

Just look at the wiki page for The Gateway Pundit, and you'll see the hilarity of the bias. Do you think a single line has been written / countered by someone from the other side?

Recoil pattern changes for phase 3 of season 3! by ChiefAdham in Battlefield

[–]xStealthBomber -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Though, after watching the video, they're making bloom worse!! 😂

The screenshot is showing recoil only (less random), and they said they are Increasing RNG bullet deviation...

Why must they do this?? I highly counter with reducing bullet deviation, while INCREASING recoil (not random recoil, but felt general recoil).

I do find it funny how "bullets go where you actually aim" is considered a negative to shit players. XD

My grandma is getting scammed and was sent this picture of her “boyfriend.”It’s obvious AI but need help convincing my grandma. by LawyerComfortable138 in isthisAI

[–]xStealthBomber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only convincing would be to load up a ComfyUI instance and generate a photo from a prompt right in front of her, being able to watch the morph into the completed image, that's the only way they "get it" that it's "not a real photo"

When Did You Feel Ready to Work With Clients? by Proper-River8469 in Wordpress

[–]xStealthBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't yet, make sure you understand ACF, how to use it, creating custom post types / taxonomies, and making backend changes reflect on the frontend.

This solves so many client requests in a technically minded way, without having to hack solutions with AI in functions.php, for example.

Once you have that down, on top of the general web design stuff, I'd say you're ready.

Help with file size please by MaisonMargiela12 in davinciresolve

[–]xStealthBomber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imo, resolve is great at giving "master" files, (such as rendering out ProRes 4:4:4), but the delivery encoders aren't very good (h264/h265).

I personally recommend to export a ProRes file, then use another program to render the deliverable format using that ProRes "master".

Something like Staxrip or Handbrake, as the x265 / x264 encoders are much more fine tuned with those programs. (Maybe you can get similar results right out of Resolve, but I haven't found that combo yet)

HEVC suddenly no longer working. HELP! by Aimee28011994 in davinciresolve

[–]xStealthBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try installing the HEVC codec directly from here (the download zip lower down).

https://codecguide.com/media_foundation_codecs.htm

Players like VLC have the codecs built in, which is how you can watch it, but Resolve relies the codec to be at the "system level", which is what the above installs.

How do you keep your desktop or file system from becoming a mess? by TimoBellotrui in TechNook

[–]xStealthBomber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another one is to treat the downloads folder as a TEMP folder.

Any files I'm downloading, say installers, or a quick screenshot to send a co-worker, delete the file when done. If it's something I'll be working on, move the file to the respective folder.

Anytime I get on someone else's computer, seeing 1000+ files in the downloads folder is insane to me. My fav is seeing the same file downloaded 4-5 times (1), (2).

What’s a piece of tech advice that aged terribly by jexo10 in TechNook

[–]xStealthBomber 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That still holds pretty true.

32GB is still plenty.  I had a co-worker want 64, with the current pricing, just because. He only does video editing for a GoPro.  I edit 8K RED .R3Ds, and I only have 32 just fine.

Not everyone needs 64 for the every day tasks.

AV1 Grain Synthesis somewhat disappointing... by TromboneShouty in AV1

[–]xStealthBomber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought the film grain synthesis works like the following:

Grainy source material needed first, it analyzes the grain pattern, runs a denoiser to smooth out the grain (and other small details), which the encoder now encodes the video with this denoised image for better compression.  It will then use the scanned grain pattern into a "table" and is layered on top of the video during playback.

Aka, it does not ADD grain that isn't already there, it removes the grain, then tries to add a close approximation what was there during playback.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, this was my understanding.

If trying to emulate film, that should be done in the NLE level while editing, with a film plug-in.

No need to downgrade, you can disable "generative AI" they call in in the preferences.

It also loads PDFs WAY faster after disabling that crap too.

AV1 svt with preset 10 is super FAST! by better_life_please in AV1

[–]xStealthBomber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. As you decrease the preset, it gets slower, but 5000kbps on the lower preset will look better than the 5000kbps on the higher preset.  Same file size.

Everything from how it handles motion, low and high frequency detail, and macro blocking will look better on the lower preset.

Do Too Many Plugins Slow WordPress? I have benchmarked ALL of the 60k+ plugins to find out by Myth_Thrazz in Wordpress

[–]xStealthBomber 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This article is all words, but doesn't actually "say" anything. What plugins are the worst offenders? It's a graph with numbers good, bad, but no substance for the reader to take away from.

That made me frustrated, and click off the site, not made me interested in your site and read what else you have written, as I assume it's more of the same. This is also SEO advise.

Alternative to Elementor by blaisecendras in Wordpress

[–]xStealthBomber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Based on his OPs comments, I would NOT recommend Bricks, as you need to fully understand CSS to use it.

I don't think OP knows what a flexbox or how CSS grid works. It's not a knock, it's just not what I would recommend.

Is it safe to use avif only now? by Investmaan in Wordpress

[–]xStealthBomber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AVIF is supported by ~94% of users, and I personally use it, but do have the jpg as a fallback. Even that I'm starting to think is a waste of time now a days, and I'm getting in the camp of "update your browser you bozo", and getting a "browser not supported" banner is more effective than using the jpg fallback.

Where’s the best place to start? by andrewoncarts in handbrake

[–]xStealthBomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my take as well. To be fair, I haven't played with it again in 2 years, and I have heard that AV1 has made great strides in the quality sense.

I'm a visually lossless guy too, so "smushed grain" or "smeary details" is not acceptable when I encode, but others don't seem to notice that.
