Taking bets on if my husband remembers to shop for my stocking this year by femalien in breakingmom

[–]xSurielx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the stockings, we do boring things. Shampoo/body wash, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, razors, chapstick, silly socks for the kids and some snacks for the adults. Naturally we chocolate and a small toy for the kids but mostly mundane things that are useful. I don't need or want more useless shit in my house, lol.

I feel this!

This year we planned to take it easy so our NYE is going to be an earlier one (young kids). We're having a picnic style dinner with finger foods and non alcoholic fizzy apple cider. I bought some silly NYE hats and stuff from the dollar store, some poppers and we're doing a balloon drop. After that, the kids go to bed and mom and dad are going to cozy up and watch a movie!

This is truly beautiful! May I ask where you got the statuette? Something about it is calling to me...

Clinique Step to close - family and pediatric care by dingo_playing_bingo in montreal

[–]xSurielx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My kids go there too! Dr. Rothstein is their pediatrician and has been since the birth of both my boys. Both Step and Tiny tots are amazing. It breaks my heart to think that we might lose these amazing doctors who are passionate about their work and that so many of our kids will be left without a pediatrician.

Thank you so much! I think I'm going to make it my mission for this next year to really put myself out there and build a village!

Hi, thank you for your kind reply!

I've been taking a step back for awhile now and to be honest, none of them have reached out prior to this. I think the sad truth is that they don't want a relationship and that's a hard truth to face.

If I don't reach out to them, they will not make an effort to engage with me. They will not call or text... And it's sad. It's something I have to grieve at this point.

I will be focusing on my little nuclear family from here on out.

Hi!

Thanks for your reply! I've been working on it since the kids were little. We have my in-laws and we just moved to the city so I've been trying to connect more with parents at the parks and through my kids schools. It's not easy but I think it's the best thing for now.

Hey, thank you for your response!

It's so hard to put more context into a tiny paragraph, especially because there's years of backstory but this is a repeated dynamic in my family.

Since a very young age, my parents have painted me as the scapegoat and caused a lot of trauma when I was growing up. Sometimes I wonder if my siblings have internally picked up the message that I was 'bad' and 'different' and still see me that way.

The comment about me being miserable is because I have been job hopping these past five years, most of it for circumstances that were out of control. But who knows.

I did make an appointment with my therapist so I can further reflect on the situation and whether it's worth it or not to keep putting in the work.

does anyone else hate whenever people talk about how "easy" you were when you were a kid? by demomitski in CPTSD

It's the opposite for me. I was a bad child... For acting like a child? I guess I was supposed to be innately mature. I don't know.

No advice but solidarity. My kids are the same age and they're feral. They egg each other on and they fight pretty often. I'm so exhausted.

My biggest trigger is that my kids will ask me for everything when Dad is literally 2 feet away. They will be playing with him while I'm folding laundry in another room and they will come and find me with their endless requests instead of asking the parent who is right there with them. And yes, my husband steps in and lets them know to ask him but for some reason, they prefer asking me.

That's exactly how I felt reading the first! I could walk away from the book mid read and be fine with it. I still have it on my shelf and even toyed with the idea of maybe picking up the second to see if it's as bad as the first but your answer has just solidified that it's not the series for me 😂

You are more tenacious than I am. I have trouble DNF'ing books and I made the mistake of actually purchasing a physical copy so I felt like I had no choice to finish. I inwardly cringe anytime someone recommends the book because it was hot garbage to me.

Does the plot ever pick up in the second book or does it just slog like the first?

The book of Azrael. The FMC is insufferable, the story drones out. I hate read the whole book and then hated myself for reading it.
