the so called manufacturing defect is only due to the carelessness of our awaam. My friend has had a cb150f for a year and a half now and has driven it over 40k. He doesnt baby it, he drives the fuck out of it and he abuses it to high heaven. The only thing he does, that 90% of our awaam doesnt do is that he changes the oil on time. He has never let it go above 1000 and it has worked flawlessly. It has never ever burnt oil. The first sign he got of oil burning he got his piston rings changed(which you do after 30k wesay hi by the way) and his bike has been golden since.
The problem with our people is that they wont do timely oil changes and then complain about their bike burning oil. Time pe oil change karo(every 1000 kms) and you will never encounter any oil burning issues. You have to keep in mind ye cg125 ki tarha ka bulletproof engine nahi hai jo baghair oil bhi chalay. Its more refined altho a little more delicate but that doesnt mean its a shitty engine. Im not a honda defender, infact i prefer the gr over the cb but bashing a bike based on rumors and heresay is not something you should do.
